If you are looking to just simply toy around (no serious or relevant work), there is a version of the iOS SDK that actually runs on PowerPC. I believe it only supports iOS Simulator 2.1 or something insanely old like that, but it is awesome to have for novelty.
Yeah, I have an ADC (Apple Developer Connection) account, as it was called, and I have Xcode and a simulator running on a G5, just for kicks. Glad to see you are alive and well Altemose. I really do love this little Ti, I want to drop 1GB of RAM into it and throw an SSD inside. Just gotta replace the right fan, its got a bad bearing or something. The PRAM battery also needs replacing along with the battery itself. I really want to make this a secondary Notebook, I just already have a 2009 Blackbook and a 2006 MBP ready incase..

The late 2002 Fully Loaded Titanium PowerBook G4 I bought new in November of 2002 at the Apple Store in downtown Palo Alto remains my favorite of the many new PowerBook models I've had over the years.

With just a bit of care it hasn't suffered the hinge problem that many did. Other than replacement batteries, it's still like new. Used now out of sheer joy and for the experience, I write with it.

i use a iMac g5 at my grandmothers to play music for my drumming practice ditched ads copied them al over to iTunes on leopard and it does the job old also have a powerbook g4 12 on the way drives tomorrow morning that i will use as an extra portable still debating leopard or tigeer haven't decided as i do not know the specs yet

I use mine for everything OS 9. Every old program i can get my hands on, and use it for itunes online radio.
I like these Harmon Kardon speakers.

I had a look at they Xcode versions I have , Xcode 3.1.1 seems to contain the iOS SDK for PPC , however haven't seen a seperate PPC iOS SDK download

If I recall correctly, the download that was needed was Xcode 3.1.2, but it appears that Apple Developer no longer hosts that download. I tried a few years ago to get it on my G5, but could never find the correct download appropriate for the guides online to hack the iOS SDK installer.

Some early version of 3 I believe. I pay for an ADC account, so maybe thats why?

I have had both paid and free iOS developer accounts and have not seen the download since I started looking about three years ago. If you have a copy, shoot me a text...

I have a zip of the iOS Simulator version that runs on PPC, I don't have the whole iOS SDK package though, just the usual Xcode 3.1.4 for Leopard that you can still get from Apple - the Simulator runs if you install Xcode and then unzip it into the folder structure.

Hmm... I may need to get that from you if I do not come across the whole SDK. Let me see what I can uncover first and I will get back to you.

I use mine mainly to browse the web and play old mac games. I also enjoy upgrading them, I just ordered some upgraded motherboards for my three powerbooks. I also have a dual 2.0 G5 that needs a new motherboard that needs a new motherboard, and I'll be fixing it soon.

I use my PowerMac G5 as my main Mac, my iBook G4 as my laptop for when I'm not at my PowerMac, my iMac G4 for a backup or testing Mac (I use it more often than you'd think), and my iBook G3 "Clamshell" for running old versions of Mac OS to see what they were like. I do have an iMac with a Core 2 Duo, but I don't use it because the screen is broken and the only reason I keep it around is in case I have to do a task that absolutely requires Intel (the screen is slightly usable, but certainly not for everyday use).

you could remote desktop or vnc into the intel from the ppc. i did that with my mdd to my mac pro for kicks. os 9 running 10.10.5 in 256 colors is hilarious.

why not plug an external monitor into the iMac with mini display port and enable display mirroring.
I could do that, but my displays are a higher resolution than the iMac so it looks pretty bad. I've also tried extending the display, as that gives me the full resolution, but the iMac screen is still used for things like Open Firmware and booting from discs. On my PowerMac, I can see all of that on my external display.

Yes, I've tried that too. But, I am not very happy with the performance of it when compared to actually using my PowerMac. It can sometimes lag when playing videos.

Another problem is that Firefox is discontinuing support for 10.6 and 10.7, and my iMac is a late 2006 model, so now it can no longer run any up-to-date web browsers. On PowerPC, there's TenFourFox.

Daily driver backups. They run fantastic and I run my 15" PB G4 1.67 daily. It's faster than my Core Duo Mini.

My G5 Tower is primarily for playing games that require OS9/Classic Environment, but with TenFourFox and LibreOffice4 I can actually use it as a daily driver, so it also acts as a back-up to my slightly younger (though "obsolete") Mac Pro.

I also have a G3 iBook (Snow) which was an impulse purchase for about $20 and actually has Debian Linux with LXDE at the moment. I would use it at college during classes if the WiFi was WPA2 compatible.

If I find a G4 Laptop I might make use of it, but I recently bought an old Core2Duo MacBook off a fellow student, so I've already got a spare laptop.

If I can get a decently-specced G4 I will. Perhaps a nice G4 MacMini. I have gotten rather used to the nice big 27" LCD screen, so I would not want to go back to a little 15" CRT display.

There are no Mac Mini G4s that are capable of booting OS 9 natively. OS 9 was killed before Apple introduced the Mac Mini line. I'd look for a Graphite PowerMac G4 or a Quicksilver PowerMac G4. Can't go wrong with either, OS 9 wise.

I actually do have an iBook G3, but it is only a 12" model. At the moment it runs linux, but I think I'll put OSX Tiger back onto it.

I would really like something with at least a 14" or 15" screen through. Something which will support 1280x1024 - Age of Empires II (one of my all-time-favourites) is best played at that resolution.

You could attach an external screen. Adapters are cheap and you can plug almost anything into the iBook's mini-VGA (I think that's what it is) port with one of them.
