If you are within your 14 day return period, you can just swap it out for an iPad 2. But since there are no iPad 2s available, i'd return it, then order an iPad 2 from the online store.

It was a private sale, saved about $200 which is the other reason I passed on the iPad 2.

I decided against an upgrade for two reasons - the first is that the current model does what I want, and the second is that I will e getting the iPhone 5 as I am now in a country where I can afford to get one (in contrast to the extortionate plans in New Zealand), and anything the iPad two can do over the iPad 1 is easily mastered by the iPhone IMO. I am looking forward to integrating my iPad it into my home theatre setup.

"out and about" ipad? Aren't all ipads meant to go out and about?

No. It's only meant for washrooms and sofas. ;) But some people often have "out and about" devices for places that might present dangers. I certainly about my "battle mode" camera which I take with me when I feel iffy about taking my better one.

Im keeping mine... For the things i use it for i don't really need to upgrade... I can easly use it for a another year no problem...

I think I am correct in saying that all of you kind iPad 1 owners will kindly pass it on to a certain daleycss, because I heard he is a very nice fellow.

Did you get the hint?

Getting an under cabinet mount for the kitchen and keeping it in the kitchen for my girlfriend

 I think I might need to get me another iPad gen 1...maybe when they start to get real cheap on eBay just before Christmas...
