Needed a little kick in the pants this morning... Starting off with a little black metal and this one fit the bill.

Septicflesh - Neuromancer

That's more than just a kick in the pants. This rattles my ears😋

This may be the Reunion Tour of all Time.

Herb Alpert, who turned 90 today, is doing a Tijuana Brass tour in 2025!

Just learned about this from a friend, who like me, is somewhat of an Alpert fan. They'll be coming to my area in May but alas, already sold out, which isn't surprising. Some years ago we did get to attend a concert done by Herb and his wife, Lani Hall. It was wonderful, really enjoyable.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Been a huge Santana fan up until Supernatural, loved that he had a comeback but that every single guest vocalist had to mention him by name in the lyrics (contractual?) just made it kinda weak/childish.
His concert video Sacred Fire (filmed in Mexico City, and his banter was all in Spanish) is in my Top-5 video concerts of all time. Got to see him live in Park City about 16 years ago, he had his back to the audience most of the show (he was locked-in to his drummer and conguiero (sp?) so I get that, but dammit man, some showmanship please?)
He played virtually all of the material from Supernatural, (fine with me) but he only played like four of his well-known hits (fine with me too, but the crowd, as we were exiting, were really pissed and almost getting kind of ugly, glad to get my GF out of there).
And the local arts tabloid, the next week, called the show "a moldie-oldie Greatest Hits parade".... did he/she even attend the show?!? I wrote them a nasty LTTE but of course they didn't print it nor respond.

EDIT: And, heh, I'm still getting used to the idea I now have Tidal music streaming and a Cambridge Audio streamer in my audio system, and I can listen to this myself tomorrow morning! Stand by for my own review!

I stopped listening to Carlos after the group's fourth album Caravanserai was released in '72. Then I had the misfortune of hearing Smooth with Rob Thomas on the radio and a few other tunes from the Supernatural album in '99. I have not tried anything since.

Huh, I never realized they said his name in every track! The one that pops into my mind right now is the one with Dave Matthews. I can hear Dave say Santana. But I never noticed this before. I'll pay attention next time.

I use Qobuz, but also have and use a Cambridge streamer.

As for the album, I was quite impressed by it. It was enjoyable to the point that I found myself turning the volume up a few times.

And some more - sadly gone, but not forgotten - but possibly lesser known classics from what some of us (of, perhaps a venerable vintage) still claim was a genuinely Golden Era for rock, and pop music, namely, the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart,

Python Lee Jackson - In A Broken Dream,

The Lightning Seeds - Pure.

And now, a few more from The Lightning Seeds (and I had almost forgotten just how good they were):

- Waiting For Today To Happen (97 version);

- All I Want;

- Perfect;

- What If;

- Sense.

In the 1990s, (and I now realise that this is not just a couple of years ago, but is a full quarter of a century ago.....), Blur released a number of albums, two of which were - to my mind - simply superb:

These were Parklife, and The Great Escape.

From The Great Escape, I offer a few tracks:

- The Universal (already mentioned, a terrific track)

- Country House (this one featured quite a lot on radio playlists; an excellent track)

- Ernold Same - melancholic and interesting

- Entertain Me - excellent

- Yuko & Hiro (dismissed by some, but I like the minor chords...)

and, from the brilliant Park Life, (and what an outstanding album, - almost every track is excellent and some are superlative - and one with an unforgettable album sleeve), I give you several tracks:

- Girls & Boys (pure Britpop)

- Tracy Jacks (a very good second song)

- End Of A Century (ah, this was such a breath of fresh air when first heard; ages well)

- (the eponymous) Parklife (the track after which the album is named)

- Badhead (one of the best tracks in an excellent album, still brilliant)

- The Debt Collector (an instrumental that manages that sense of something slightly sinister yet combines it with a vaguely comedic air that one also finds in the Beatles song For The Benefit Of Mr Kite),

- Far Out (a short song that lingers),

- To The End (another almost perfect song),

- Trouble In The Message Centre (a song that still sounds fresh, pure pulsating pop),

- Clover Over Dover (one of the songs that defined the album and the era)

- This Is A Low (a superb track, a classic, almost a chanson style with haunting chords, the kind of song that one can listen to, again and again and again).

Thank you, SS, for offering this list of music you've been enjoying, and also why these choices might be of interest to many of us. I also appreciate that you provide us with the relevant information (artist/track/album, etc.), without posting links to album covers and such, especially when you have quite a few items....

I'm not a regular participant in this thread, I only pop in every now and then. Used to look in on it much more frequently, though. Something which has rather concerned me for a while, and I wonder if it has been an issue for other participants in this thread, is that when someone posts and includes a lot of graphics (more than just two or three links to YouTube, with accompanying album cover art images), this can be problematic when loading this thread and the current page. That's rather discouraging and frustrating when this happens!

I have a fairly powerful computer (M1 MBP) and a fair amount of RAM memory, and yet from time to time I experience this, and it has occurred to me that if this is an issue for me and my machine, what must be the situation for someone with a less powerful computer or other device, less RAM memory, etc.??

My guess is that at least some participants or former participants have struggled with this. It seems likely that if one frequently has difficulty in even loading and viewing the page when intending to participate in a given thread then at some point they just "hit the wall", are totally frustrated and eventually simply give up on the thread altogether. That's not exactly an optimal situation, is it?

I had to have a root canal today, ugh, lol. I listened to:

View attachment 2498528

I was in the chair for three hours...
My root canal was 2.5 hours, and I wasn't offered a music choice, just the Muzak channel over the dentist's PA. But, there was a malfunction somewhere and it kept playing the same song, over and over, sometimes skipping to random parts of the song: I only have eyes for you. A slow, romantic song but kinda creepy sounding at the same time. Worst 2.5 hours of my life; even the hygienists were going, "Doesn't this song ever end?!?"

That was ten years ago or so; to this day I cannot listen to that song.
