But, today's discovery was even more eye-popping. I've been a huge music fan since gradeschool, and I've always known the name "Michael Hedges", but today was the first time I've heard him play/sing, an old, poor 4:3 video of him solo-performing a George Harrison tune, and wow does he put everything he has into it!
If anyone here has any album/video recommendations of him, I'm all ears! :)

I don’t know what the hell is going on here, but I like it. (seems to be some sort of clone species)

I wish I could clone myself and play that well in my living room.

A couple days ago Tidal suggested to me a rather long (+10-hour) collection of Vivaldi pieces, a composer I was really not familiar with after all these years. I've really been digging it, and it's added to my Favorites.
I’ve got Vivaldi’s complete 12 opus..es. I also like his cello concertos.

And yet, there comes a time in the evening, where the Steely Dan, Peter Gabriel, and even Goldings must be set aside, and cue up The Ramones. Best part, the show is over in 27 minutes and you can pick up some White Castles on the way home!

Two 2-hour flights today back to WI—second one I listened to Dave Weckl's "Afrique" on repeat the whole time. I have a weird ability to be able to do that, not just on planes, but in general.

Have you ever seen the Netflix film Traveling Band: CCR at the Royal Albert Hall?

The actaul film is over an hour or so long but the actual concert is about 32 minutes I believe. Great film by the way.

Ari Hoenig’s “Ari’s Funhouse.” We’re playing the whole record in LUJE (top jazz ensemble), and Ari Hoenig is actually going to play with us on the concert. I’m super excited.

I was always scared of LUJE in the past because it’s the university’s top ensemble (and one of the top in the U.S.). And the music is CHALLENGING. Decided to this year after building a rapport with the director the past two years. Now he knows me (and was confident I’d do well). After sight-reading the charts today I actually feel pretty good about it. It rehearses four times a week, which is a lot but it’s good since we’re doing music of this caliber.

That sounds absolutely brilliant, professionally, personally, academically, and simply from the perspective of your musical development. Well done, and do enjoy the experience.

Listening to a number of tracks from the first three albums released by Allah-Las: Firstly, the eponymous album Allah-Las, then, Worship The Sun, and finally, Calico Review.

I don't have their later albums, but must see if I can lay hands on them, preferably as CDs.

This is a group I like a lot, - that bitter-sweet note, optimism shot through with an undertone of melancholy expressed in minor keys and chords; in their music and through their sound - they are somewhat reminiscent of one of my favourite albums, the timeless, brilliant and utterly extraordinary Forever Changes (with Love and the impossibly gifted and wonderful Arthur Lee).
