Even more 80's stuff.

Love and Dancing by The League Unlimited Orchestra...

...aka The Human League, for those not in the know. This and Dare! (from which L&D is derived) are Martin Rushent's signature production masterpieces. Love it, love it, love it.

Anyway, I've been listening quite a bit lately to Provision's new album A New Revolution: decent EDM/minimal synthpop in a Red Flag-meets-Information Society vein.

Now playing: A Flock Of Seagulls "Don't Ask Me", from their eponymous debut.
Before that: Provision "Tomorrow", from A New Revolution.

Oh, and last night, I discovered a rather obscure international pop hit from Samoa: "Sau Ta O", by Zipso featuring Mr. Tee. It's Baha Men goes to Polynesia with a house-style drum track, and is kinda catchy. Check it out...

I'm listening to Astor Piazzolla's Le Grand Tango. This is possibly the best piece I've ever heard :).

Great piece.

And, in a salute to a bizarre (yet compellingly interesting) thread posted elsewhere, I am now playing Queen's wonderful song - "Who Wants To Live Forever?"

And to which I have added (after The Style Council's 'With Everything To Lose' - the version with the flute solo - exquisite ), the haunting 'Last Time Forever' by 'Squeeze'.....

Guess I'm showing my vintage tonight.....

And now, for some ineffable, nay exquisitely haunting - almost gossamer in its delicacy - music: The inimitable Erik Satie and some of his Gnossiennes, No 3 ("Lent", and "Avec Etonnement", and Gnossienne No 4, "Lent").....

 "Needs more co.... stops." - Christopher Walken

If you like organ (snicker) music, check out Diane Bish, or my favourite English Sister who used to be on TV, and who's name escapes me at the moment. :(

I have a stupid grin on my face; I have listened to this piece many, many times over the years (hundreds, perhaps?) but have never seen it played before. Thoroughly enjoyed this (and happily listened to it for the second time this evening); thank you for posting it......

To be able to play like that - is it not the sort of accomplishment that one might consider selling one's soul for? Wasn't that what was said (in dark, muttered, hushed whispers) about the violinist Paganini? Ah, well, wonderful all the same....

Yes, but only because he was light years ahead of his peers, at the time, and he composed for himself, which they hated.

Today however, we have many skilled players at his level.

Of course the talent pool to draw from is somewhat larger now. ;)
