Listening to bebop pianist Hampton Hawes - "Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams" and other tracks from the album "For Real!"

(Hawes was playing here in quartet format, with tenor sax Harold Land, bassist Scott La Faro, Frank Butler on drums)

This was a 1958 album. La Faro was only 22 at that time; he was later the bassist for Bill Evans, most notably in the 1961 albums Sunday at the Village Vanguard and Waltz for Debby, the works recorded just before La Faro died in a car crash in upstate New York at age 25.

Listening to the Drive soundtrack. Can't get enough of "Nightcall." So very 80s that it's simultaneously ridiculous and perfect. Want to know whether it is a new song or something old recently "discovered." Then again, maybe I don't want to know.
