Agree - it's sort of a bummer that there were rumors of a larger air model that would fit this niche perfectly. My parents could use something like that as well. Not everyone needs massive performance that just wants a big screen.

The LG Gram is an excellent example of this. A 17 inch laptop that is under three pounds. The thing is that Apple can now build one of these with excellent performance and so it is something that they might consider down the road. I would just like to get an M1. Could be an iMac, Mini, MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. The M1 MacBook Air would be fine for now but just the knowledge that they are doing MagSafe this year is enough to have me wait for that model.

I have five Magsafe Powerbricks with Magsafe 2 adapters so I am so ready for the return of Magsafe. This would mean that I could have charging stations for both my 2014/2015 MacBook Pros and M1X MacBook Air or MacBook Pro models. It's just hard waiting.

I'm curious if they'll be introducing a new magsafe variant, or if it would be the same as on the 2015/etc. Might be needed for higher charging rates but I'm not sure.

I would most prefer Magsafe 2. Apple still sells Magsafe and Magsafe 2 chargers. If they do introduce a Magsafe 3, then I would hope that they have adapters for sale for Magsafe 1 to Magsafe 3 and Magsafe 2 to Magsafe 3. They could also just do a Magsafe 2 to Magsafe 3 and then I'd just run with two adapters.

There are a ton of Magsafe and Magsafe 2 chargers out there and it would be great to be able to reuse them instead of sending them to the landfill.

There’s zero chances they are going to reuse old MagSafe technology.

All of the iPhone wireless charging options are now called MagSafe aren’t they? If the new MBPs have MagSafe, it won’t be different to the new MagSafe designs. If it’s different it will be called something else.
Agree it won’t be the old MagSafe size.
