I am an absolute cheapskate when it come to accessories

  • A Xiaomi 20000 mAH battery (1700 INR - $25) - Charges at around 800mA so around 6 hrs from flat to full. The build quality is extremely good , however finding one is quite tricky. They come up o a flash sale once in a while and get sold out within seconds.

  • Generic USB A - USB C cable (checkR certified - 200INR, $2.5)

  • A generic HDMI/USB hub (1200 INR - ~$17) - Works well - The Apple multiport would certainly be better but I rarely use USB (mostly to copy songs on a USB drive for my car once a month or so) so didn't see the point in spending so much extra

I got this delivered last Friday. Currently using it as my desktop charger for everything, really. USB C Charging on my rMB seems to be pretty good and fast. At this point, I'd recommend this.

Would it be possible for you to share the charging current value while using this charger?
You should be able to see it under System Information>Power

Here's what it looks like plugged in to the Anker USB-C charger (I had my iPhone 6s plugged into the Anker at the same time):

And here's what it looks like plugged into the Apple 29w USB-C adapter:

Wow... so it's charging faster than the apple charger?

whoa, that's neat..
In fact there would be one more number in there , the mA rate at which the battery is charging
The battery capacity (approx 5200mah) divided by the mA being fed would give an approx idea of the 0-95% charge time

Battery Installed: Yes

Amperage (mA): -739

Voltage (mV): 7932

I get only 30W from the same charger, what's the trick ?

My charging grid is my new fav :D

1 x USB-c PD 30W
2 x lightning
1 x micro-usb
1 x apple watch
Still one usb free for whatever.
Could use adapters to turn a lighting into micro usb and maybe get rid of the micro usb.

For now my only with would be that apple goes usb-c for ipad/iphone.

ASUS WL-330NUL Ethernet Adapter & Micro Wi-Fi Router - My favorite accessory of the bunch, at first glance just looks like an Ethernet-to-USB Adapter (which is needed on occasion) but it's very cool second feature is as a fully functional Wi-Fi Router. You plug it in and it allows you to create your own private wi-fi network so that once signed onto the hotel internet-entry page on the notebook you are one-click away from getting all your iOS devices up and running. I get to the hotel, I turn on my iPhone and iPad's wi-fi, I'm connected instantly, no need to sign in to anything. Oh, and it weighs ounces and is the size of a pack of gum.

Does this require any special drivers for OS X? I have the official Apple 10/100 USB to Ethernet adapter, and it's solid!

I've upgraded my grid and integrated the charger.

waiting for shorter cables next week and is should be better. May try a smarter grid too.

Have been a game changer for me, no more cable hassle got this got all.

Looks big on the pics but isn't not very nice but still better than without the grid

I could add the usb c multiport on top :D

Meanwhile can you get some cable ties? My OCD's killing me.

Not sure as I run Windows 10 exclusively on my Mac. I'm sure ASUS mentions it on their website, it does work in MacOS.

The key to this accessory is its ability to create a room-sized private wi-wi network for all of your devices from a single connection. It saves time and money in hotels that have sign on pages and device limits. This is very different than the Apple adapter you mention which does not have this feature.

I have been using the Model#K64325 Kensington Expert "Mouse", at least that's what it's called, it's actually a trackball with a ball near the size of a billiards ball. I was having real bad hand pain from hours with a regular mouse, mostly doing Photoshop. It got to the point where I was waking up with my hand really hurting. The Kensington trackball completely solved it. And because the ball is large you have really good accuracy when you're cropping and selecting. To me it's a must-have, especially for Photoshop.

I have this, yet I have no macbook yet. Today it cleared the customs in Cologne and should be shipping the France soon. i tested it on windows pc, workes fine and people say it also works fine on mac as well.

How did it work?

I bought it for my new rMBP 15" late 2016 (w/ Touch Bar), but I'm not sure that all the ports will work properly.
I had and still have some Dell products and their quality is quite good; they aren't perfect like Apple products, but Apple adapters cost way more than 3rd parts ones!
