There's a nexus of fulfillment centers all within a few miles of City of Industry, CA that I refer to as the great FedEx package gyre. A package normally takes up to 2 days to get to me once it hits Southern California except when it flows into the gyre.
Once a package gets trapped in the gyre, I know it's going to be at least a few extra days. I've seen them bounce around for up to a week between distribution centers that are literally just down the street from each other. Sometimes they'll boomerang and end up almost back where they started, never moving more than 2 miles a day.

How long until the CC is charged to see movement. My card was charged over the weekend and my status hasn't changed.

I only laugh, as a fellow resident in Southern California, I feel your pain. You have no idea how many times I'm tempted to just tell them to hold the f**king package at the facility and I'll drive the 3 hours in L.A. traffic to pick it up.
And I would absolutely do so too, except the ONE TIME I did that, I arrived at the sorting facility, went to the "will-call" area to pick up, only to wait 45 minutes, as the "manager" goes in and out of the area, calling multiple people, only to come back and tell me the package was on a delivery truck somewhere even though I explicitely stated that I will be picking it up at the facility.
Had to go back the next day to get the package.

For both my orders I saw a "pending charge", the next day a tracking number was given and UPS would show "order label created", the day after that UPS would show that it arrived at a facility (had movement) and Apple's order status page would show "shipped" and "pending charge" changes to "charged".
All happened during a week day as opposed to the weekend.
Apple finally tried to take payment (twice) this morning only for it to be declined by my bank!
Managed to sort it out and now sitting on preparing for shipment.
Weirdly my delivery window has gone back in time. It was 15th-22nd, now showing 9-16th Nov but considering it's the 16th today I somehow doubt it will turn up, haha

I ordered the 14 inch M1 8 CPU 14 GPU 32 RAM 1 TB SSD on October 27th. My estimated delivery date was between December 1st and 8th. My package just shipped today and the new estimated delivery date is this Thursday November 18th. I’m excited. 😊
Is anybody else seeing big delays? I ordered a 16 inch 64GB / 4TB less than two hours after the launch event on Oct. 18 and was originally supposed to get it Nov 10 - 17. First it was pushed two days Nov 12 - 19, which I saw happened to some other people on this forum too. This morning it was pushed to Nov 26 - No 30, so nearly TWO WEEKS passed the original estimate. 😱🙈😥

Yup, I am still sitting in Shanghai. 7 days after shipping. Delivery date was yesterday. UPS Worldwide Saver shipping. Took it up with Apple yesterday, waiting on a resolution today.
I've been in the same situation as you. However, a little bit ago I received a scan that said it has cleared import customs, but has no location and no indication it actually moved anywhere. Anyone know what this means? Could it really be in the US and just missed a bunch of scans along the way?

Yes. There's a huge thread of people with similar BTO configurations that are seeing huge delays in the U.S.A. Even Linus Tech Tips couldn't do their review on the M1Max non-base models due to shipping delays. If you click on my name and look at my post history, you'll find a bunch of people with similar configs facing delays. I also have my order date + time.
Will update later today with more information about delivery and tracking.
For my order that went through Shanghai, they cleared import prior to leaving for Korea:

Thanks CoffeeMacBook! With mine seeming to be following your path you have all the answers for me. Based on your tracking, mine is still in Shanghai, but the customs clearing should me it should be on its way sometime today to Korea sometime today or tomorrow. I did notice that UPS now shows an estimated delivery date of Friday, the 19th. With how quickly many peoples are getting delivered once it leaves China I am hopeful that it might come a day earlier than that. But at this point I‘ll just be happy when it gets here. Thanks again for the info.

Just checked and have the same thing with a probable delivery date of November 18, by 7pm. Apple have sourced a replacement for me that may turn up before then though as I am leaving the country for almost a month and needed the MacBook before departure.

If I lived in Southern California, this would drive me crazy. Anytime I get something shipped to me from the East Coast, I watch and if it's getting routed through Nevada, I say a prayer that the next stop isn't City of Industry, CA. Please please please, make the next stop Sacramento!
The first time I noticed a package entering the SoCal gyre, I waited dutifully every day to wait for it to travel north. Now when I see my stuff land there, I just curse and drop all expectations. I'll see it when I see it.
My order for 16" Max 64GB 2TB from the 19th October (Australia), was due for delivery 17th-24th November. So starting from today. But now has been updated to 6-8weeks time. Same time frame as if I were to order one now. It's like I've been pushed to the back of the queue.

Summary of my experience:
- When Apple says "Preparing to Ship" it normally takes 1-3 days to charge your card, your bank will show "Pending Charge".
- Once your card has been charged, they'll ship the very next day.
- It takes roughly a week for delivery if your carrier is UPS.
a. If Apple is shipping your order ahead of schedule, shipping will take longer.
b. If Apple is shipping your order behind schedule, they'll ship it slightly faster.
