Decided to try the larger iPad this round.

However, it doesn’t fit the iPad slot in any of my backpacks - peak design 20l, Samsonite laptop bag.

Did you find a solution that fits both iPad Pro 12.9 and a MacBook Pro?

Also a bit scared to put the iPad in a fully packed backpack, after watching those bend test videos. Should I be concerned? Both MacBook Pro and my 9.7 iPad Pro were rock solid.

I just posted this idea on a similar thread, but I carry a Waterfield's Cozmo bag. It has space for my MBP, dedicated space for my iPP, and there's space for any files, etc that I may want to carry. The leather is smooth and amazing--I love the feel of fresh leather.

This is the Cozmo. You can go to where it says "What Fits" for more information, and they are very good about answering questions. https://www.sfbags.com/collections/...ves/products/cozmo-2-laptop-bag?tab=What_Fits

If that's not your jam, then they have other bags you might like better: https://www.sfbags.com/collections/laptop-bags

I have a Tom Bihn Ristretto messenger bag that I bought for my Macbook Pro in 2011. It has held up great.

I also have an 11" Ristretto which they used to make for the original iPad, but its discontinued. So I am getting a Dash Sleeve and iPad Pro Sleevecase from SFBags for when I only want to take the iPad Pro 12.9"... which is more and more now since I can do more and more of my work on it.

I'm thinking about getting the iPad Pro Sleevecase as well. Are you getting the shoulder strap too? If the bag was leather, I would have already ordered it.

I'm curious: Why both the sleeve and the sleevecase? I thought they did the same thing.

I like the look of this bag a lot - would it hold both a MBP (13 inch) and the new 12.9 ipad? Hard to tell what that pouch just outside the laptop sleeve would hold. Thanks for the post -

I used to travel with my 13" Macbook pro (2011 model, much thicker) in the back neoprene pocket and the ipad Air between the pocket and the front, along with a few of the Tom Bihn cable bags that clip inside. I know my 2018 12.9" ipad pro fits too loosely in the back by itself... so it might fit with a newer macbook pro also. I do not have a way to test currently though.

I was in the same boat on the whole "if it was all leather I would buy it now" but then decided the look still is nice and it was cheaper than the other, more complete leather.

I got both as I want the Sleevecase with the loops and straps as a stand along bag to replace my Tom Bihn ristretto for ipad pro only... I got the Dash Sleeve for the ipad to live in when I want to just carry it around the office, house, hotel, airplane, etc and dont want the bulk of the larger bag.

So yes, its a corner case, but I figured since I didnt get the leather one, the two bags together are still cheaper than the larger leather ones... so why not? :)

I agree--why not? It sounds like good reasoning to me. I'm just now seeing the reasoning behind getting a sleeve; before my iPP, I just used a case and put it in the bag. Now I'm seeing just how helpful they can be.

I'm toying with getting this bag from Pad and Quill, but it's really a little more expensive than I'd like to pay. https://www.padandquill.com/heritage-leather-slim-satchel.html I wouldn't mind their regular iPad Pro bag/sleeve, but it's sold out. https://www.padandquill.com/valet-leather-bag-for-ipad-pro-97.html

I agree, the smaller satchel seems expensive (although it does look nice). Good luck with your decision. It took me a month or so to finally decide on my two Ristrettos from Tom Bihn the first time. But they lasted me 7+ years so it was worth it in the end. Hopefully the SFBags ones do too!

My SF Cozmo bag will last almost certainly, and I suspect your two will as well. They're just exceptionally well made.

I think I'm going to pass on the P&Q bag. They do have a 11 iPad case that I'll probably end up getting; it fits the ASK as well.

SFbags shipped my order already... so don’t let the “shipping in a few weeks’” part put you off. I was surprised as they said 1-2 weeks when I emailed them.

Thanks for the information - that helps - I also emailed them.
