LG HBS 912... bluetooth wireless, comfortable around the neck, great sound/call quality... charge lasts a good 12 hours.

$49.99

I personally haven't tried the Airpods because I haven't had a reason to. The LGs are amazing and 1/3 the price. I would probably be a bit paranoid about them falling out as well. Don't have to worry about that with the LGs.
I’ve seen that pair of headphones all over the place! Wasn’t sure what brand or make they were!

They're really awesome. LG is the name brand and there's different models (700,800,912, etc) and there's a lot of offbrand types with a similar look floating around Amazon and other retailers too.

I have no complaints. So many great things I already mentioned and they have amazing range as well. I stay connected walking all around the building at work leaving my phone at my workstation.

Does the torc portion not bounce around when you're running? (since the OP was specifically looking for running headphones... :) )

Not a problem for me. This time of year (rainy damp PNW) I'm wearing a zip up light jacket anyway... and they are tucked inside with the wires coming up through.

Will reevaluate next summer. LOL

I run daily with AirPods, pretty good for running doing 1 ear at a time is nice for hearing traffic.

This. For safety issues depending on where she runs, rather greenway, Street, public or secluded place, the one in one out feature is probably the best to stay aware of your surroundings.

For something a bit different -- Trekz Air (made by AfterShokz). These provide an "open ear" listening experience, as they actually work by bone conduction so that the listener can enjoy music but also remain alert to ambient sounds around him or her. The sound processors are positioned in front of one's ears, resting on the cheekbone area, and remain in place by being hooked over the ears by a thin band that wraps around behind the head. These are good for people who have problems fitting earbuds into their ears or who just don't like things in their ears, and they're surprisingly effective, with good sound quality. They're also really great for people who use bone-conduction hearing aids, too!

Available at Brookstone and also earlier models are available at Amazon.com.

And that's the reason I love my Air Pods—no wires!

To each their own. :)

I don't consider retractable wires coming from a neckpiece to be nearly as annoying as a wire that is physically attached to the phone. With the buds in the ears the wires aren't in the way of anything... unless you wrap your head around a pole or something.

I also don't think it's worth an extra $100 to lose the wires... especially given the charge time difference. (12 hours+ for this headset vs 5 hours for Airpod?)

Who knows though... I haven't actually tried Airpods yet because I'm happy with these and don't just throw money at Apple if I don't have to. Maybe someday I'll have a reason to.

I use the JLab Epic Air's for running. They're made for active use and have handled sweat and rain without any issues.

I was a diehard JayBird X user, which are really great, but it's wonderful not having to deal with a cable between the earbuds.

Platronics backbeat fit is a really nice cheaper option. Personally love mine

I've had to return 3 pairs of the Backbeat because the battery life diminished from 8 hours to 5-6 hours after only a few weeks of usage. They kept sending a replacement pair and the same problem kept occurring. Was very disappointed with the battery and Plantronics support. I'll never buy from them again.

I can understand being disappointed with the Plantronics product, but why were you disappointed with their support? Sounds like you had issues with the product and they resolved it 3 times.

Did you ultimately get your money back?

I have been running with BeatsX since february and although the sound is not the best of my headphones (Sennheiser HD 598, Bose QC35, Beats Wireless Studio 2), they are excellent for working out and they sound much better than any other wireless exercise headphones I've tried. They are light, pair seamlessly with Apple products (thanks to the W1 chip), last more than enough for a week of running. If you choose the appropriate set of silicon tips for a perfect fit, the sound is more than adequate to get lost in.

Since they are the best fitted for running of my headphones, I bought a second pair after losing the first about a month ago.

I'm disappointed with both the product and support. After the 3rd time I asked to transfer to a supervisor. Told him that every time I need to send the device it costs me $14. At that rate I was on my way to spending over half the price of the device I purchased. They had 3 more options and refused to do all 3. Refund my money, send me the latest version or pay for shipping.

It's possible this may be the case with mine, but with my usage, I don't notice/care.... It charges pretty quick and I typically don't use it for more than a few hours straight. If my battery gets low, I just plug it in for 10-15 minutes which puts a few hours of use on it.

I’m a fan of the Plantronics Backbeat Fit. I haven’t had the battery issue. Still 8 hours after several months. My AirPods aren’t secure enough in my ears for running, even with ear hooks.

It's just not acceptable to me. They promote 8 hours battery usage but are using such crummy batteries that they start losing a full charge in only a few weeks. The reason to get on top of it early is if they are losing 2-3 hours in only a few weeks of being new, they will continue to diminish very quickly.

Yeah, that would cheese me off too.
