Just wondering what brand of memory MacBooks ship with by default, does Apple make their own memory or do they use chips produced by someome else?

Usually Samsung, but Micron (Crucial) and other Tier 1 Manufacturers are also used.

Apple does not make their own, they buy in large quantities directly from the foundries, primarily Samsung, Hynix and Micron.
