What brand SuperDrive in MB C2D?

According to the System Profiler, my MacBook Core 2 Duo's SuperDrive is listed as "HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA4080MB." Nowhere can I find a manufacturer's name for this drive.

Anyone know if this is a Matshita drive, or some other brand?

Now, Apple is not consistent in their parts. Most people with C2D have Fujitsu hard-drive... I have a Toshiba...

My guess is yes

I have a black c2d macbook and system profiler shows MATSHITADVD-R under both ATA and Disc Burning. I don't see anything like the readout you are reporting.

My bet is on what Deadpixels is saying. I've seen another reference to LG drives being in C2D's.

Mine also has a Toshiba HD, which concerns me, since my PowerBook 12-inch G4 also had a Toshiba HD--which failed, and which AppleCare replaced with another Toshiba HD, which also failed...
