What Browser Are You Using?

I use Chrome on my Mac Mini and Firefox on my new MBA. In my testing, Firefox provides the best battery life when compared to Chrome and Safari under identical settings.

In terms of what I like performance wise, I like Chrome and Firefox equal and can't really stand Safari. I only use it to sync my iPhone bookmarks.

Firefox

1) Extensions - I don't use a lot but I use the ones I use a lot
2) Customizable clearing on exit (history, search, downloads, cookies etc. Pick to clear some or all, etc.)

I'd LOVE to use Safari for some of the new features but I want to clear on exit, automatically.

I used to use chrome on SL but now I use Safari. I probably wouldn't use Safari if I didn't have Omnibar installed so I can use the url bar to google search just like in Chrome.

chrome remembers your zoom preference for each site (not each page). safari does not.

the zoom memory is nice, though it can also be annoying.

safari and firefox usually on osx. I haven't even bothered to install firefox on the new machine. firefox on the win7 side and ie if i want to download windows upgrades.

Chrome :)
I switched from Safari to Chrome just few days ago because of the address bar. It's brilliant. And the loading speed, it's much much faster than safari.

I hate FF, it sucks, keep on crashing and hang.....

What kind of gesture are you guys talking about in safari with lion?
I uses the same gesture in chrome and fire fox also...... I meant the swipe to go back and forth....... do we really have any other gesture that only implement in safari?:confused:

Oh, got it! sweet!

it's not default; you have to go into system preferences and set 'swipe between pages' to 'swipe with two or three fingers'.

EDIT: duh, i've been swiping on chrome on Snow Leopard forever; somehow i forgot.

EDIT: it probably is default, actually. i forgot i enabled three finger grabbing. duh, take 2.

THNX!

I don't understand why Safari is set up for 2 finger swiping back and forth between pages when everything else uses 3 finger swipes. I've set mine up to use Chrome with 3 finger swipes since Mail, iTunes, other apps use 3 finger swipes. At least the interface remains consistent.

HONestly, does other browser offer that much of an advantage over safari to make people use any other browser on osx than safari?

Since apple is making safari, I will continue to only use safari where I expect it to remain more stable and secure than other browser -- not too mention more quicker response time for patches and what not.(this however might be complete misunderstanding as I do understand that open source has reputation for rather quick fix and patches).

I do use other browser when I have to on osx however.

Safari 5.1 on Lion is really a great browser. It has full screen support, works great with gestures, has support for zoom in and out (iPad like) and it is fast.

What address bar?? Can you please elaborate?

Never could get the hang of Chrome. I use Safari on both Macs and Windows. Firefox or IE (on Windows) for "problem" sites.

in Chrome, there is only bar at the top which doubles as the address bar AND the search bar. entering "apple.com" takes you to www.apple.com. entering "apple" takes you to a google search for the term "apple".

GENIUS.

it's a very simple idea that makes a huge difference. get it, Safari?

On my Air swiping with three fingers changes spaces and two fingers changes pages in Safari. Chrome two finger swipes don't work.

Are there options so I can get two finger or three finger swiping in Chrome to work?

And I kind of like switching between spaces with 3 fingers (four would work too)

Go to System Preferences - Trackpad - More Gestures - and change "swipe between pages" to 3 fingers and "Swipe between full screen apps" to 4 fingers.

i must say, Chrome looks beautiful in Windows, with the Aero theme (set to clear). and there's no menu bar up top eating up space. it's significantly less pretty in OSX.

Ever since Lion and my new 11" MBA I have been using Safari.

Before I used Chrome because Safari would take forever to open a new tab because it was loading the top sites. Now it seems that either the SSD on the Air mitigates the new tab opening time, or Safari 5.1 fixed a bug.

The only thing I miss from chrome is the unified search/address bar.

I use Safari on my MBA and use Chrome on my Windows laptop.

a little off topic, but maybe useful for many here:

what do people use to sync their bookmarks, across different machines, across different browsers, with their phones?

this is one reason i like Chrome, though it doesn't help with my phone.
