MP 7,1 What cable do I need?

Don’t think it’s a stupid question. If the 5700x is like my pro Vega I, then it should support hdmi to hdmi. However, I would suggest a USBC to DP cable for best comparability. Something like this:

^^^^Apple support is correct. Both your 5700X and the monitor have USB-C ports.

I didn’t think usb c=thunderbolt just because they use the usb c connector.

Actually I retract my previous post. I completely missed that the monitor you posted has a USBc port that can transmit audio and video.
You CAN use the cheaper cable. I’ve connected my MacBook to a USBC monitor using the exact cable that flowrider posted.
In this Apple link it says to use thunderbolt usb-c or a standard usb-c to connect video. Thunderbolt here is irrelevant because video in this case isn’t limited by the wires data transfer speeds.

The monitor does have USB-C but one of the reviewers says they had a problem with choppy refresh rate with USB-C, and was solved using hdmi... so its not an easy answer

^^^^Was the reviewer on a Mac? What GPU was the reviewer using? HDMI is old school in the computer sector. HDMI is now used mainly in the TV arena. Current computer technology leans in favor of USB-C and Display Port.
USB-C should not be a problem with the monitor you mention on the NcMP with the 5700X GPU.

That is true, but reading this question, this specific monitor seems to have a problem or bug when using USB-C.
take it for what it’s worth. Some people seem to have luck with it.

^^^^None of those reviewers are using the monitor with a Mac Pro. All seem to be MBP. That monitor takes a powerful GPU which the 5700X is. Also, you don't need a cable. The correct cable comes with the display.
Try the monitor with the cable it comes with and report back.
