I have a Macbook and I want to connect it to my HDTV (1080p, vga port, hdmi, component). I want to do this so I can watch hd video that I would normally watch on my macbook on my tv. Can someone recommend a cable for me?

MiniDVI to VGA adapter then run a VGA cable to your TV. You will also need to run an audio cable from you MacBook (1/8" stereo mini plug) to the corresponding audio input on your TV.

Ok thanks. But I'm noticing that the mini dvi cable to vga's are very short and will vga give me any resolution I need?

DVI to HDMI sounds good, so I should get a Mini DVI to DVI connector then a DVI to HDMI connector?

Yep. Its definitely the superior route as its all digital. I have not used one myself, however. I have used only VGA to 720p (which is the VGA port limit on my TV).

K thanks. I notice though from the linked blog that I also have to buy an RCA cable for audio, but doesnt HDMI do audio and video? Also, I have no idea what an RCA cable is or what it looks like.

Your TV will need to be able to take audio from another source besides HDMI. RCA cables look like component cables. About 1/4" across with a fairly thick plug in the middle.

youll need an RCA to mini-jack cable
