I purchased 34UM95 in Frys for 999$ + tax. Display looks very nice with some limitations. Backlight bleed is noticeable in the left bottom part. In other forums was mentioned that this is widespread issue with this display. I returned the unit and hope to get Rev. 2 later.

On the positive side:

Display worked without issues at full resolution with rMBP mid 2013 and rMBP late 2013 via Thunderbolt.
Out of curiosity I plugged the display in white MacBook Core2Duo http://support.apple.com/kb/SP584 . This machine do not have Thunderbolt, only mini display port. When connected with mini display port to display port cable display worked without issues at full resolution with 60Hz. It was quite surprising as this machine is ancient.

You should make sure you aren't experiencing IPS glow. It seems many are confusing the glow with backlight bleeding. At these widths, the glow can be seen when looking head on.

The lighter colored area did changed intensity a little depending on angle of view, so it may be IPS glow and not bleed. I did not saw such effect on Apple Thunderbolt displays or on Dell U3011. If this is IPS glow it was still noticeable in this specific display and I expected better uniformity for the price.

At the same time I preordered this display from Adorama for $899 and seems like they are not charging tax when shipping to CA? Maybe in this case I would prefer to keep display if there will minor glow/bleed.

It really depends on your usage. I rarely have blacks all over the display, so I typically don't notice them. This isn't a professional display and it is a new product, for the price most seem pretty pleased. You could wait it out for the Dell or AOC version.

Adorama won't charge tax to CA. If you get one you are pleased with keep it for sure.

Also, keep an eye on MassDrop. They are planning to sell the commercial (business-ish version) of the display for $800. The model is 34UM94-P.

Good luck.

Hey guys, does this display allow connecting speakers to its mini-jack port and passing the audio through Thunderbolt? I wish I didn't have to plug the audio cable to my MacBook and even the Thunderbolt Display doesn't support that.
