What are your realistic expectations with the iPhone 5s (assuming the name).

Mine:

- iOS 7 with full compatibility
- A7 quad core processor
- 32/64/128 GB
- improved camera

- possible increased battery life
- possible NFC
- probably continue with 1gb internal memory
- screen size remains same until iPhone 6

I'm hoping they focused heavily on battery life. Keep the same form as the 5 and simply increase the battery capacity by 30% or something.

Also, they seem to love iCloud so I don't see them making a 128GB phone when they don't even make a 128GB iPad.

Have we seen anything other than faster internals/software improvements in the history of the iphone?

Maybe camera improvements? I dunno. I'm not familiar with the history. I really wouldn't expect them to retool the line for the "s" version.

1) Stronger structure that won't bend
2) Finish that wont be as sensitive
3) better camera

Idk if we'll see an A7 quad-core or not, but here's what I think:

- 32/64/128 GB
- Modest battery improvement
- Color choice (based off rumor, seems plausible)
- NFC
- Maybe better camera (I'm not sure they could squeeze one into the 7.6 mm frame, though)

That's really all I think, they need an A7 to make this a worthwhile update.

24 hour battery.

You need to connect to an external power generator to get 24 hrs of LTE web browsing.

At most it may be bumped to 9-10hrs.

-More or less:
iOS 7 with full compatibility
Faster Chip
Improved Camera
Same Form Factor.

id like to see the 16gb finally go. 32 should be standard with all new high end smart phones. 16gb isnt enought for my music, photos, videos etc.

It will be simple, cost effective, and "innovative":

1) Weapons Grade Lasers (a given)
2) 4 Quad Core procs (maybe 5... Dunno)
3) Indestructible (maybe Plutonium???)
4) Most importantly: MORE GEEBEES!!!

Unless Apple does these things I predict their stock price will crumble and Tim Cook will resign and be forced to work at McDonalds and use a lowly SGS3.

Unless Apple "innovates" I'll be mad. I'll still buy several, but I'll frown while doing so.

- possible increased battery life

i think most phone companys really need to look into making there smartphones last 3 days with average users.
most people who use theres 5/6 hours a day just about manage

- possible NFC

probably, nor sure on this ....

- probably continue with 1gb internal memory

yeah, agree cant see apple boosting this till the ip6 (prob 2gb)

- screen size remains same until iPhone 6

i dont think theyll make it bigger at the 6 tbh, 4" seem just right.

----------

apple bought a security firm right ?

prob saving it for the ip6 this but ... finger scan on the home button ?

Ahhh... Finger scan to activate the weapons grade lasers? Or to use the new GeeBees?

Either way, they better "innovate"

I doubt we'll see NFC. Passbook isn't replacement for NFC but I feel like every time NFC is brought up Apple talks about passbook.

Faster graphics
Faster processor
iOS 7
Colors?
IGZO screen?
Better battery life
Better camera/optics
Same solid form factor (it doesn't scuff/bend people, at least under conditions that don't involve scratching it with diamond or taking a hammer to it or something extreme like that)
No NFC, it's not secure nor is it implemented widely
No 4.8"/5' screen

Unrelated note:
Scuffgate doesn't exist. QCgate? Yes but it is isolated and the yield percentage is relatively high compared to industry
Bendgate doesn't exist. People purposely trying to break things? Yes
Antennagate? (iPhone 4) Yes but honestly it's like saying the camera doesn't take pictures because my thumb is in the way (both are due to the way you hold said device)

Using better build material to prevent the bending and scuffing sounds great. I think more battery life would be good but as apple seems to be aiming for I've day of normal use, I doubt that'll improve drastically

totally agree. Also, wouldn't the a6x be more likely for the 5S? and the A7 in an iphone 6.

Any increases to battery life will be in the software optimisation, not the hardware. Not much they can do there. Adding NFC and such will make it even worse.

I struggle to see how they can justify releasing one for at least another year. They won't be able to jump screen sizes as that will totally fragment everything. It's bad enough getting apps for the new 4" screen so far.

I'm betting a better finish / more robust, improvements to the camera and lots of marketing aimed towards iP4 / 4S owners.

This is exactly what I think. I do not think anyone should expect to see a processor upgrade until the 6.

Bottom line, it will be hard to get 5 owners to upgrade to a 5S. The only reason I upgraded from the 4S was b.c of LTE. The hardware is already more than sufficent in terms of processing power.
