iPhone 8/Plus What causes a frosted white screen to appear iPhone 8+?

An employee with an iPhone 8+ is doing something that makes the screen a semi-transparent white. It looks like it should have icons but it does not. No idea what he is doing to cause this, but he hits the power button then home button to clear it.

I have not had a similar issue on my X so I am not sure what he is doing to cause this and how it can be prevented.

Any ideas?
 
What do you mean "how can it be prevented".

The Geek might have been doing diagnostics.

Why would you worry about this happening on your 8+?
