Neither. Apple does not manufacture clear case to display or expose the iPhone back color. People are defending and so particular for choosing their iPhone back color then covering their selected iPhone back color with a case with a different color. So, the question is why the back color is so important to have during ordering if the color will not be proudly displayed in a clear case

The answer to your question is that many people that use cases don’t put a case on their phone and leave it on forever. Many of us sometimes go caseless even though we have a variety of cases. It’s nice to enjoy the original color of your phone at times but then also enjoy the protection of a variety of cases at other times.

I agree with the notion that Apple should make a very nice and sleek clear case, so we can display our back color.

I’m new to cases in general with the all glass iPhone X, so I don’t like covering up the back. Why all the fuss about which color to order when you are just gonna cover it up all the time?

The Apple leather case is finally something I’ve learned to like and looks “rich” compared to the iPhone X. I have midnight blue and saddle brown. Also have a trinamium clear case from amazon for $8.

Personally I don't care about showing off the back since it just has the apple logo and iPhone so it doesn't bother me too cover it up. I have always used a case of some kind anyway but I'm a fan of cases made of premium material and the leather case fits that bill.

released today

Spicy Orange and Flash and Cosmos Blue

The spicy orange looks cool (even tho fiery color), and well, spicy.

Flash- eh

Cosmos blue- doesn't feel novel?

Me too! I’ve stopped using my other cases and using my white silicone exclusively

its probably entirely placebo, but also possibly not, the white FEELS silkier than other colors I've tried

doesn't just look, FEELS. less dry. If true, does that have anything to do with holding up well?

The panda contrast (black front, white sides) is great either way.

The silver ring bleeding into the white ring on the back is on point too. and the smallest amount of space to see the silver back, looking seamless. on the blue one I had, it looked a bit off and the gap was bigger.

the light grey vol and power buttons are the nicest little touch and improvement from previous generations too (imo)

I agree with everything you said haha

It feels as silky as my Apple Watch Sport band. Others keep saying it’s not the same material but they feel similar

I accidentally got some newspaper finger prints on it and it came off easily with a quick wipe.

Just placed my order..... I'm delighted at this, since orange is my absolutely most favorite color! My iPhone X and I are very happy right now.....

One more thing which would make me even happier would be if Apple would release a watch band in the same color.....

They have LOL

doesn't make any sense, must be a smidge different than the existing orange band?

I guess its quite a bit brighter? like orange knockoff bands? Idk confused.

They got rid of the existing orange band a while ago? Anyway there's only this spicy orange now.

I wonder how much different this would be from the Hermes orange...

Just saw the announcement about the orange watch band, too..... AIEEEEE.....I am just so thrilled right now!!!! It will be available in my local Apple store on Thursday, so I'll be heading over there.

This is what I love about MR; news about Apple products or updates, whatever, comes here quickly and I learn about them quickly......

I absolutely agree with everything you said here. Once you go white...

Dark olive looks better than I thought it would on my SG. I’m a fan of the Apple silicone cases, despite the price, and I also have ordered a Cobalt Blue and Black case. They just fit the phone so nicely and have a great grip factor.

Hey guys, what is it that makes you guys lean towards the silicone cases? I owned the leather and it feels terrible in hand because of how slick it is, people think the more you use it that some grip will develop lol so those have been a hard pass for me. I was digging the dark olive case, loved the look, feel wasn’t terrible, but it drove me nuts. It’s a magnet for things in your pocket or on tables. And I was constantly wiping it down when i would use it. What’s the secret guys??

We all obsess over things - just not all over the same things. :)

So the secret is to ignore the things it picks up? Lol

Pretty much because in truth the majority of us don’t even notice things that annoy the heck out of others. For example, I love the feel in the hand of the leather case that does feel better as you use it more. But it’s a hard pass for you. Guess it’s something that we each have an individual preference for. Much the same way I don’t even notice lint on my silicone case. Maybe because it’s white?
