Looking for a little insight here. I bought a couple of genuine Apple sport bands off eBay from what appears to be a reputable seller (score of 52277 at 99.7% positive feedback). I think I was sent the wrong blue band. It was supposed to be Ocean Blue, but my understanding was that the Ocean Blue was a darker shade.

Here is a photo of the three sport bands I have, with the blue in question in the center. I've tried to match the color the best I can with the photo, with my black and orange bands surrounding it.

Wow. Sorry off topic but that's a beautiful blue color. It reminds me of the blue 5c I have.

Where did you get it?

I bought it on eBay. It's a genuine Appel band (has the size marking printed inside and all), so my best guess is this is the now discontinued Royal Blue color. It's not a "rich" or "vibrant" looking blue...to me it seems kind of "muted," if you know what I mean.

If you wanted Ocean Blue, then that would be somewhat darker than the band that you got.
Here's a shot from the Apple site: http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MNJC2AM/A/42mm-ocean-blue-sport-band-s-m-m-l

That's what I was thinking, largely based on what I saw on the Apple site. In fact, the eBay listing showed a very similar color. However, their photo wasn't white balanced at all, so I don't know if they were trying to deceive buyers or just had a bad image.

Really love the ocean blue
Thinking about getting one

I love it as well (from what I've seen online) and was a little disappointed when I opened the package and out came this really light colored band. I guess I'll reach out to the seller and see what they'll do to make things right.

Did he tell you the name of the band you were purchasing? I hope you weren't expecting a vibrant blue from Royal Blue, have you tried finding a Blue band?

Maybe just a variation in the shade.

I see lots of bands sold on the 'net as "Genuine, original Apple band" - or something similar.
Not too sure you can trust that, unless the band came in original Apple-brand packaging.

Apple Sport bands have clear markings on them indicating length, when Most third party Sport Bands do not. And if you have experience with Sport bands, they can easily be identified as counterfeit with touch and build quality. The flueroastamer is thinner and less supple. The pins and fasteners are also cheaper in quality. (At least the ones I own from OEM).

eBay also has buyer protection through Pay Pal for six months if something were to go awry.

The listing specifically mentioned it being Ocean Blue, which is why I was so surprised to see how light in color this was. I did try on a darker blue band at the Apple Store, but that was back in October. I don't recall if it was Ocean Blue or Midnight Blue. It certainly wasn't a really dark blue though.

It was sold as a "slightly used" genuine Apple sport band, but without the original packaging, so who knows. By all accounts, it appears to be an original. I paid about the same price as a lot of the knock-offs on Amazon, etc. As I mentioned, it's even got the size printed on the inside of the band (black band is what came with the Watch).

It also the same feel as the band that came with my watch. I haven't handled any knock-offs, so I can't compare. I have seen silicone bands on other watches, and this definitely doesn't have the same feel as those. It's feels more smooth and less "tacky."

It's for sure real, fake bands don't take the time to put the size markings

Sucks you didn't get Ocean Blue, but you couldn't tell from the photo that it was Royal? Royal and Ocean are a bit distinct

Nope. The photo they posted made the color look very similar to the color shown on Apple's site. Trust me, if there was any doubt that it wouldn't be Ocean Blue, I wouldn't have bought it. Luckily the seller offers a 30 day money back guarantee. Sadly though, I'd have to pay shipping. I'll reach out to them now and see what they have to say.
