What is the next OS going to be after OSX Lion?
This logic might get a little bit fuzzy, but hang in here with me:

Apple has been using Mac OS X for years now, since 1999, I think. And each OS is named after a big predatory cat (Tiger, Leopard, Lion). And the lion is the biggest/baddest/most regal one of them all. So the next one after lion probably won't be a cat. You can't go from Lion to Linx or Lion to Bobcat. That'd be a downgrade.

Therefore the OS after Lion must be something else.
So perhaps, after Lion, the next OS will be Mac OS XI and they will come up with a new naming system for it. So if I got a macbook pro now, and didn't worry about getting Lion when it comes out -because it's probably just a bunch of interface upgrades anyways- then just upgrade to MAC OS XI in 2012/2013 or whenever it comes out.

Tell me what you think of this. Is this prediction perhaps apt or is it on the level of a homeless person's delirious rant?

They will keep the OS X branding, they are about out of big cats so those names will change to something else, but we have a long time until that happens.

i guess OSX like we know it will disappear , there will be one operating system for iPhones to iMac's and the next iMac will have a touchscreen as all the features in iLife11 and OSX lion cry for a touchscreen , and the app store comes to lion too , so there is no need any more for a separate operating system

Actually Tigers are bigger than Lions. The biggest of all is a crossbreed male Lion and female Tiger, called a Liger. That could perhaps be a very apt name for the next incarnation of OS X.

There won't be any touchscreens for desktop computers. Just image keeping your arms up for 8 hours (a normal work day). Most people can't even do that for 5 minutes.
It's just not comfortable.
HP tried it with their iMac clone and it didn't sell.

Snow Lion.
Or Clouded Leopard may be a good idea if Apple are pushing big on cloud computing.

they had leopard and snow leopard so maybe lion and white lion?

the next cat will be the ocelot. its the only one that makes sense. then the sabertooth tiger will be in the final version.

That's right and Steve told us about their testing of it in the last keynote. He's right, no one is going to want a vertical touchscreen. If OS/XI is going to be touchscreen, every computer it will reside on (newly released hardware at the time) will have to have the option of being horizontal to work ergonomically. Anything otherwise = Fail.
