I have no idea what he uses today, but I know that at least until 1998 he was using an IBM ThinkPad running OPENSTEP while at Apple and that at least until 2001 he was using a NeXTcube at his office at Pixar.

i think i have to agree about the dell XPS... ;)
Do you think if something goes wrong with his computer, he has to deal with applecare?

He can't , because his Dell has a hacked version of OSX on it. :p

What about a G4 Cube? I think that is exactly the sort of thing Steve would use.

He dosen't use a computer at all. He has people to do work for him. he spends all of his time personally removing the lint from his all-black wardrobe.

Grammar police. woowoo.

He uses *the* G5 Powerbook. :D ;)

Or, possibly a A1 notepad and pen.

Taking into consideration that you are the "Grammar police", it seems fairly poor that you don't know when to use words like 'a' and 'an'. :p :)

Like cops, themselves, never break the law.... :D

I'm willing to bet that Steve has one of everyone milestone Mac, but not every one ever made.

I'm equally willing to bet that he uses a 12" or 15" Powerbook, or a 13" MacBook or 15" MacBook Pro for nearly everything. Dunno if he'd want the really small or not, but the 15" sounds like something he'd go for. I don't think he uses beta software/hardware, so it's probably all production or very near production software.

Of course, we do know that he used Keynote for quite a while before it was released, though. So who am I to guess?

The personality reminds me of a production manager I worked with. I would image, based on the similarity of personalities, that Steve probably rotates out machines fairly often. trying the latest in production and pre-roduction machines.

This is a practice known as eating your own dogfood.

Trust me, If Steve finds a problem with the hardware, you can bet it gets addressed ( or at least fixed on Steve's machine ).

Max.

He uses a rev C 17" PowerBook, and rarely touches anything else.

He doesn't get new computers all the time because moving everything over isn't something he does for no reason. He has one computer because he keeps everything on that one laptop, along with an external HD. He likes having all his mail and documents on the same laptop. He also believes that the 17" PB is fast enough for all his needs, so why bother getting another laptop. However, since his battery just died, and he's the CEO of Apple, he decided to switch over to a 17" MBP very soon.

Steve also has 23" ACD as an external monitor at home. He also has a Cube, but he hasn't used it in a while.

Thanks for the support, Apple fans.

-Steven Jobs

I bet he uses something really stable like a powerbook G4 rev. D and an imac or powermac. But he's always testing apple's newest ideas- computers, software, etc.

MBP or PowerBook, complimented with an intel iMac.

So go on Steve, what are you using?

its probably gonna be something mobile and light...mbp for instance..cause i bet he doesnt have enough time on his plate to be messing around with powermac g5s all the time...and o wait a second. my memory is calling. I seem to remember at one of his keynote speeches, he was talking about watching dvds on his imac with his kids and family. 'i know i certainly do'. perhaps it was the one where he introduced front row? reply with thoughts...maybe i am wrong. again.

I will agree with others, I am sure his main computer is either the 17 inch Powerbook he had before or a new 17 inch MacBook Pro.

If you want to talk about people using old computers, I bet the Woz still has some Apple ]['s around.
