Are you close to your router or far away? It may be dropping and reconnecting because you're out of range. The WiFi icon is not a great indicator of strength.

Try turning off your AirPort on your MBP by clicking on the WiFi icon and selecting 'Turn AirPort Off'. Turn it back on and try connecting.
