I want to get a cheap iPhone 2G for a kid. What Data Plan is AT&T putting on that model? The same plans as the 3/4? A cheaper plan?

I think it's a $20 unlimited plan still.
Correct on the $20 Unlimited Data plan, it would start with the $20 original iPhone plan that includes Unlimited Data and 200 SMS Txt msgs. You can also upgrade to 1500 SMS for and additional $15 or Unlimited SMS for an additional $20 above the $20 base plan.

No. If you get the subsidized phone (iPhone 3GS/iPhone 4), you must upgrade to the more expensive plan. At least this is they made me do last month.

Full of Fail

The iPhone can do the $20/month unlimited plan. All iPhones can. Now, the iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 require the newer 200MB or 2GB plans.

However, there is a loophole. Get an iPhone, activate it with the $20/month plan. "Activate" your newer iPhone 3GS or 4 and et the $30/month unlimited plan.

How am I Full of Fail?

I said the following

So, for example, with the iPhone 2G, I had the unlimited data plan for 20$/month. I had to upgrade to the unlimited 3G data plan for 30$/month when I got my subsidized iPhone 3GS. Later, when I got the iPhone 4, I kept my unlimited plan. To me, 30$/month is more expensive than 20$/month. I guess we were took different math classes.

If you can fault with my statement(s) I'm all ears.

You were quoted some one who asked if the original iPhone could still use the $20/month plan. You said no. I call BS because all iPhones can have the $20/month plan. The only thing that will change that is if you update to iPhone 3G, 3GS or 4. Somethig which the posted you quoted has no mention of.
