I am in a delema and wants some help from those who have used the air. I have a 15" i5 now but have been wanting to get rid of it for sometime now because I dont really use the "portability" aspect too much. So what I was planning on doing was getting a iMac and just using my ipad with it, although I dont really want a "desktop" computer too much.

Now that Apple released the new air I thought I getting rid of my MBP and ipad and getting an imac + air. But then i think, I pro will not use my imac that much bc i will always be laying on my bed using the air or what not.

But will the air be powerful enough to use as a primary computer? I use photoshop, indesign and dreamweaver occasionally, other than that is just basic computing. The things I do in the adobe apps are nothing very intensive, just normal basics. Any help from someone who has expirence from this would be great! :)

I say i dont use the portability of the MBp because I find it is too big and get annoyed with carrying it around.

Both Airs have you covered. If you handle around huge images, take the 4GB upgrade. The CPUs are fine as is.

Buy both, and sell whatever you don't seem to use anymore :)

Get a very good monitor, a wireless keyboard and mouse and "dock" your Air for when you need a desktop PC.

You will really appreciate the extra screen real state and you can spend as little as $100 (for a cheap one) up to $1,100 for a Cinema Display and wireless mouse and keyboard from Apple.

In any case, you end up saving a bunch of money noy having to purchase an iMac that wil not get much use and you don't have to worry about syncing two macs.

I thought of going the external monitor route but am still debating between that and an ipad.

So basically these computers can handle things other than just basic computing?
