I, for one, am really psyched about the iCal.app. Ever since I finally shed myself of Entourage a few weeks ago, I've been kind of wondering why Apple didn't have a calendar app - and this one looks killer. I'm really psyched about being able to publish my calendar to the web and synch it with a (hypothetical) iPod.

I missed half on the keynote cause I meant to bed, I like the iMacs, the ipods and itunes 3 is wicked , I want a $20US upgrade since I only bought a iMac a while back cause $129US is a bit much

I'm a relatively new Mac user, and I must admit that I am constantly puzzled by people who can't wait for Apple to release something new, and then when they do they complain about it?!?! Look at all the amazing products Apple has--when was the last time you heard about that great MP3 player and software that Dell makes or the Compaq laptop that was user friendly and error free? Take a look at how good you have it when you're a Mac user!

I'm not disagreeing with all you who see a general need for a speed bump in processors and bus speed, but frankly, I'm not a power user--nor are most people. Some people might actually need that extra speed bump from 1 Ghz to 1.4 Ghz, but I'm not going to notice it when I'm writing an email, listening to music, or talking to friends online.

I guess the bottom line here is at MWNY Apple gave us what we needed--maybe not what we all wanted, but then again would you rather they took it all back?

as a longtime user of apple computers (1979), i always expect something amazing from them...apple IIe, macintosh, LC 2 and 3, quadra, powerbook, imac, ibook, g4, etc...

but since motorola got stuck at 500 mhz for 18 months and now that they have not delivered chips over 1 ghz, apple looks to be faltering for the first time in their history...as it relates to mac faithful's expectations

and since there really is not a hint of a g5, power users are possibly switching to risc based athlon systems for the first time

to see longtime mac users threatening to switch to pcs is disturbing

our college web publishing department used to be macs, now they are dells

our business skills center used to be half macs, now it's all dells

i have never seen the mac faithful in such a funk and i think part of the reason is because the pc world is pulling so far ahead each day

but since i am not a power user, this does not really affect my day to day

apple has to do something soon to retain its shrinking base or else people will start saying they miss the good apple of the old days

sj might have helped save the company, but he is not known for being able to hold down a long term strategy...he is a company starter and visionary, but it may take someone else to keep it steady from day to day

apple started with a bang in 98 and 99, then slowly started to lose its grip each month until we have the complainers of today wishing for ddr ram and a faster cpu

all very cool :D
the 20gig is actually thicker than the others, so only the 10 gig one is slimmer.

The things I liked were:
iTunes 3
Rendezvous
QT6
and the other new feature thingys for the ipod(ical and that stuff)

What I Liked:

New iPods
Jaguar
iSync
iCal
iTunes 3
Rendezvous
QuickTime 6 & MPEG-4
17-inch Widescreen iMac

I do not have a .mac email account and I was waiting for an iPod price drop so this was a great MacWorld for me.
