The only risk is when you're going for one that has a known quality issue that a LOT of users return it over, that has no bearing on the device meeting sales requirements. For example, the Samsung/LG screen issue with Retina Macbooks for example. Other than that, they have full warranty.

Mine works:) No scratches, dings, whatever else. LG screen and haven't had any issues for the last 2 months i've had it.

As it turned out, I got the refurb, but no microfiber cloth. ;-) nevrtheless, irs def worth the savings :D

i have a macbook from retail and refurb, the refurb had the healthier battery out of the 2 when i received them both

Its a lottery, i got a 15" mbpr refurb was very noisy, sent it back and got a new 2013 one, it is silent. If you get one that someone just changed their mind on could be good, i reckon the faulty ones go out again.

I've bought 4 computers refurb. All of them were just as good as retail, but much cheaper.

I have bought refurbished and non refurbished macs, the only difference INMHO is the box and the savings on your wallet!:)

I bought one that din't turn on unless you warmed it up with a hair dresser in the mornings, because it had a temp sensor broken. So I obviousluy returned it within a week.

I purchased a refurb 2011 MacBook Pro. Saved a nice amount of money on it. It recently started giving me problems, but it has a standard 1 year AppleCare warranty so I took it right to the apple store and they helped me out.

It's totally worth it especially since it comes with a warranty.
