I recently upgraded my RAM in my MBP from 4 to 8gb. What do I do with the original RAM? Is it worthless?

Know anyone with who can use it? When I upgraded mine, my cousin had just got a laptop with only 2gb of RAM, it was compatible so I just gave it to him to put in his machine.

Usually hang onto mine and will put it back in the machine if it has to go in for warranty work just incase it ever gets replaced.

Also, if you ever have suspected RAM problems, you'll have known good RAM to use in troubleshooting.

I hold onto memory and hard drives just in case I ever need to bring it in for repairs or if there is a problem with the replacement parts.

Yep, I'd hang onto it. $20 isn't worth it. At least you'll have something lying around in a worst-case scenario.

Keep It!

As stated, when you send it in for repairs it comes back in original config.

I keep both my RAM and my HDD that I pulled.

One other benefit, if you put the OEM ram and HDD back, it might work and you can identify the problem yourself and save it from being sent in.
