Well.. it has been a few years since the original release of the basic iPod. We, as consumers, have had the ability to watch the progression of the iPod unfold into something that is worldwide and a must have product.

Apple has come a long way from their original scroll wheel, going to iPod Video to the new series of shuffles/nanos. Finally, the time has come where Apple released their 3rd generation of the iPhone.

So. What's next Apple?? The iPhone is quite stunning, indeed, but something new and exciting has got to be in store for us consumers..

-What do you suppose Apple will come out with??
-What do you HOPE they will release??
-When can we predict for this release??

    Just some thoughts:) Happy macrumoring:apple::apple::apple:

    For iMac
    • Blu-Ray Drive/Burner
    • Core i7 Processors
    • HDMI
    • Video In (to use iMac as a monitor with a Macbook)
    • More USB Ports (preferably just jump on the USB 3.0 bandwagon early)

    For Macbook's
    • Blu-Ray Reader (at the very least)
    • Core i5/i7 Mobile Processors
    • 1440x900 Res on 13" Models and 1600x1200 on 15" (at least something higher than what they have now)
    • Twice as many USB Ports (2 just doesn't cut it)

    For iPhone
    • Customization options (themes, etc.)
    • Background applications
    • Aluminum case design... something to fit with the rest of the product line and not the toy looking black and white plastic

There are a lot of things I would wish for, but even the majority of what I have listed here I'm not going to hold my breath for. Blu-Ray and HDMI? Yea, Apple won't be doing that any time soon and I'd give it another 2 years before Apple products adopt it. Core i7 in an iMac I also highly doubt will come in the next update because then that takes a bit of a blow out of the Mac Pro's. I'd expect at the best Apple puts in an i3/i5, but personally I think they will just put in the cheaper Quad's. Customization on any Apple product is a long stretch so I'm not waiting for that, but I think Apple will get over themselves and will eventually give in to background applications.

Tablet and netbook I know a lot of people will list but I don't particularly care for those products myself. Hell, the Macbook air is technically an expensive netbook and with the recent price drop you might as well get that because if Apple launches a netbook it will be in the $800+ range anyway. Don't expect a $400 netbook from Apple.

Much better commitment to their Pro-users, because it's been slim pickings ever since Apple realised it could make more money off of consumers.

So with regards to their pro line of products I'd like so see:

•More frequent hardware & software updates.
•Better choice and upgrade-ability for their Mac Pro (particularly in the GPU area). Both current and older generation Mac Pros.
•Better support for developers of 2D and 3D content creation apps.

    to name a few.....

First: I hope they could do something like that. That way I could actually buy an iMac. I'm stuck with either Mac Mini or Mac Pro now, since I require both a Mac and a Windows PC in my study.

Second: That resolution would be 1680x1050, 1600x1200 is 4:3.

I want to see the next industry changing device after the iPhone and iPod. I hope that either a much improved Apple Tv or the much rumoured tablet device.

Tablet compatible with most iPhone/Touch games (no more squinting!)

Next version of AppleTV (cheaper, runs cooler, more features, apps for it like News, Weather, Games).

You can use an all-in-one as a monitor. Dell and Sony have been doing it for years. It's only Apple that doesn't because why give you the feature even though you probably have a Macbook as well when they could force you to buying their $900 LED monitor too? You know, that $900 monitor that only connects with a Macbook? What do you know? It would be a nice feature worth doing.

At the moment I use Dell monitors and KVM-switches and it works just fine. I just would've liked a bit more punch withouth having to sell my soul.

A mini Macbook. Low processing power, low hard drive space, low RAM, but just enough power to do basic tasks and be extremely portable. However since Apple seem to think cheap is a naughty word it will most likely not happen.

You don't really have to speculate... the following are a given...

    Software:
    - Snow Leopard
    - New versions of their Pro Apps to take advantage of Snow Leopard

    Hardware:
    - Arrandale chips in Macbooks by end of year
    - New Apple TV

Not likely on the horizon, but I wish it were...
    - Some sort of sync of iTunes and iPhoto for multi-mac households

apple please listen and go back to the roots as there are people out there

Either a server or server software for the family. One that lets you seemlessly share, music, videos, movies, pictures etc across all the machines in the house.

They started to go that way with the sharing feature in iTunes 9 but I feel it is crippled, compared to what I would like it to do. Which is what I stated above.
