I like it. I’ve used it for a long time (an older version). I like it because it is one price and then you have access to their desktop app too and it all syncs up. There is no yearly fees like the other ones (like One Password)

I meant to say that I’ve used the older one for a long time but I did get the newest version when it came out. A pricy but good app where there are no fees afterwards.

80% calls/texts/email.
20% web browsing.

I use my iPhone for only about an hour total a day. Mostly my work is done on a computer.

Music
Messages
Email (home, work and business)
Photos
Light gaming
Health (Sleep app, Apple Health, Watch, MyFitnessPal)
News
Weather
Bus Schedules
Maps
Facebook and Twitter
Notes
Uber Lyft
Banking
Shopping
Word Processing and Numbers
Translation
Etc.

I use my XS Max constantly. Strangely, I very rarely use my phone to make phone calls.

It conveniently gives me a computer, a camera, a gps device, newspapers/magazines, videos, games, and I can even make phone calls too. All in one device that I can carry in my pocket. Imagine that!

This pretty well says it. My main addition would be that I try to play disc golf every day that weather allows, and I have a scorekeeping app that keeps all of my scores and averages.

I have an XS Max 256 and I realize after having it for 12 days, I don't really do much on it. It pretty much sits on a table as I am off work until the 5th. I realize my only need for a phone is strictly to receive calls from work, text messaging and WAZE - GPS and taking photos. I'm not active in any social media, though I have accounts.

I'm coming from a 5S, so an upgrade is essential, but I wonder what you guys use your phones for to be on it so much that you're enjoying your new phones. I'm also considering, based on my needs, to go XS, and exchange this phone tomorrow.

I would say most people are in the same boat as you are. Though most people use social media, so emojis and animojis are a must. I do watch a lot of YouTube on my device so I just look for a decent-sized screen. Apart from that calls and texts and navigation, with a photo here or there, just like you.

Oh and I think it even makes calls. Never really use that feature much.

Phones are personal. People do whatever they want with them.

Standard tasks really. Calls, text, social media, WhatsApp, Apple Pay, camera, Wallet, YouTube, web browsing.

To fair though you can do all this on any iPhone so it’s just normal everyday stuff..

Do you mean to say you use your phone for concert tickets or taxes more often than to make calls??

Just saying I do a lot with my phone. Whereas most people’s usage is pretty much just Facebook. The calls part was joking. I have to be on the phone a lot for work, so I have to take calls :(

Do I really need the latest and greatest for my mundane stuff? Of course not, not I still enjoy using my latest iPhone!

All joking aside, I'm old enough that when I was a kid and calculator watches came out, everyone was astounded that you had a calculator on your wrist! That was revolutionary. LOL.
And these days a watch that's basically the same size can play music, revive and send messages, make phone calls, keep an eye on some aspects of your health, and more...and most aren't even all that impressed in the sense of it's just another device.

I don't use my phone all that much, but I get immense joy from the beauty of the design and the premium feel, and with how clean/organized I keep the phone (in terms of software), it just adds to the experience. I just took my 8 out of the case and did my every-so-often complete cleanout of everything in the phone (delete all texts, recent calls, move photos to my computer, etc.) and then cleaned the phone and am still to this day absolutely stunned with the phone's beauty.

This is exactly how I am. I have the iPhone 8 Plus as my work phone, which I use more than I do my personal, and I take it out of the case when I’m at home, away from work, and I just absolutely love the overall heft and feel in the hand with it. I have been able to keep it mint since owning it, and by far this is my favorite iPhone in terms with the glass back, milky space gray color, coupled with the space gray bands.

Same here. I loved my very thin 6, but I for one am glad that the phones have gotten thicker and heavier with each gen since, and my 8 feels so good in the hand with that extra thickness and weight. Mine is also mint, but I'm still a sucker for a silver phone - love that cloudy silver glass.

On my XS Max this is what I do but not listed in order of usage. Websites, listen to music, podcasts, social media, news, YouTube, games, texting/ message apps, banking/ pay bills, pictures, alarm clock, GPS, and occasionally phone calls but that's probably lowest on the list. I'm sure I forgot something.

Phones today are basically portable computers. The only reason they haven't replaced the PC (Including Macs) completely is they don't have a large screen, mouse, and physical keyboard. The keyboard and mouse problem could be solved easily but the screen might take a few years before they come up with some 3D projection device.

iPhone 8..pretty much in this order. My phone is a tool and I spend very little time on it. No social media.

Calls
Text
FaceTime
Occasional Web
Occasional YouTube
Maps

ETA: unless I get into a talk marathon with my sister, I can usually go 2 days between charges.

lol - I'm old enough that when I was in college, I used a slide rule. Calculators had just come available and weren't allowed as they provided an unfair advantage to the majority of students that couldn't afford the newfangled things. In 1970, the HP-35 LED scientific calculator was introduced at $395 (equivalent to $2,366 in 2018 dollars - who's complaining about iPad Pro prices?).

Most people aren't old enough to remember. I remember when you couldn't get a laptop for less than $1000. Now people complain about spending $500
