I usually hate the silver color, specially on iphone xs and 11 pro, since it looks cheap, but on the Macbook pro 16 i really like it. But as soon as you open the lid, it looks awful, all because of the black vs silver combination. But when it´s closed it looks really nice and premium.

I am the only one thinking the space grey looks cheap?

I have the silver 16. I like the contrast between the keys and case and display. It's closer to the classic Macbook Pro look from 2008-2015. I had a space gray macbook for years, and liked having something that doesn't look exactly the same as 80% of the other off the shelf models people carry around.

I upgraded from a SG 15" to a Silver 16" and adore the color. It's a classic color and is unique among the waves of Space Gray MacBooks

They both look good. If you like the silver, get it, plus scratches show up a bit less with the silver. But space grey looks good too. Screen is big enough that this "bezel contrast" issue, is a non-issue.

Silver is clean and classic.

space gray is drab and the trackpad always looks like a completely different color in the right lighting.

had it been actually black, then maybe...
Finally someone else points this out. I was at a conference recently with dim/warmer lighting and the space gray MacBooks looked freaking brown. Just terrible. Not only that the space gray color on the 16” is actually lighter than at least my 2017 15”. Silver definitely looks better imo especially with the contrasting keys

I had the 2019 MBP 15 in silver and didn't hesitate at all ordering silver again for my MBP 16. IMO I feel the Space Gray is dull and doesn't look as stylish or premium plus it attracts scratches much easier than silver.

I don't think space grey looks cheap, but I do think it's a bit too ubiquitous. It's the default choice for most people so most apple notebooks I've seen produced that offer the option are that color. Almost makes silver feel like a limited edition. It's also more durable because it's less likely to show scratches.

Silver is interesting just because it's the hot take/odd one out. Neither look particularly cheap IMO. The silver looks a little more classic, as that's what MacBook Pros used to look like for a while. There is some minimal purity in silver, so if that's your vibe go for it! Neither is better IMO, it's all about preference.

I think it depends. If your notebook stays closed for the most part, go with Silver. I had a silver 2011 MBP that I liked, then bought a space grey 2016 MBP that I liked, and now typing this on a silver MBA 2017 - the one that even has the bezels in silver. I'm completely fine with any colour so long as the product is purchase-worthy for my use.

Just get both.

For that reason I purchased all of the different colors of iPhone models (including 11 because some days you just want to switch it up).

Swap to heart’s content.

(/joke)

On a serious note, totally relatable. My girlfriend and I purchased 13” 2019 models and she chose Space Gray because she liked that better, I chose Silver because it’s timeless. Space Gray looks premium (and slightly better on the smaller model), Silver looks classy.

I thought about getting the silver as the space grey is quite drab but then I just found the bright silver kind of distracting from the screen area. I ended up ordering space grey in the end.

Space grey looks better, but silver is probably more durable. I went with silver.

You guys keep talking about the durability, has anyone actually tested this or did comparisons on it? The colors have been out long enough that I'd assume there's SOMEONE who's done some scratch tests by now right?
