What do you guys use your MacBook Pro for beside web surfing and emails?

Also what your favorite software for it?

oh geez...where to start.

-IM (Adium)
-Mail (Outlook in XP Virtual Machine)
-Final Cut Studio (mostly final cut pro)
-Internet
-Service Ticket software (crappy java app in XP vm)
-Notetaking (OneNote XP VM)
-Web development (textmate/dreamweaver/broswers)
-a billion other things. A better question would be, what don't I use it for :p

I use mine for everything as well.

IM (Adium)
Mail (Mail.app)
Ripping/Converting DVDs (Mac the Ripper/Handbrake)
Calendar (iCal)
Photo Management (iPhoto)
Final Cut Studio (FCP and Motion mainly)
Media management (a whole bunch of programs)
Text editing, spreadsheets, etc (Office and iWork)
Photoshop/Pixelmator work
And just a whole lot of other random things I can't think of at the moment.

Video and Film editing (Final Cut Studio, the whole freakin' suite)
School papers (Pages)
Presentations (Keynote)
Making DVDs (DVD Studio Pro)
Mostly I work in the film industry, so anything dealing with that is a given. Making a feature and starting a production company.

And also, the rest of my life is pretty much on there, too.

I bought mine one week after buying my iPhone to sync with it. I've been using it for that main purpose ever since. After that, it's used for internet, buying songs and videos on iTunes and maybe using handbrake.

Now that I have an iMac as well, I'm all excited about it so I have copied all my music and video over to it and have been using it to sync with my iPhone.
I'll still use my MBP for my iPod simply for the fact that I have 80GB of music and video on it now and it would take too much time to have to resync it from the iMac.

pretty much everything you can do on a Macbook Pro except writing programs and such

Creative Suite 3 (Mainly Photoshop)
Audio/Video Editing
Watching movies
Messenger/Adium/Skype
iTunes
Web browsing
Torrenting

The iBook is just my school laptop I use to take notes, listen to some music in class and web browsing on my couch :p The MacBook Pro is more of a desktop but I take it with me if I need the power on the go. I have a desktop PC I use for gaming and stuff.

i use my mbp for

Web Surfing
Newsgroups
Torrent files
As an htpc to stream wmv movies to the xbox 360
watch videos
ichat
listen to music
take it around the house, outside anywhere

I also have a 2.8ghz 8 core mac pro with 16gb of RAM and I use that mainly for downloading encoding hd content, ripping, everything above listed and whatever goes and storage of music and movies.

Then whenever I want to use to watch to stream 1080p/720p movies onto my 1080p hdtv, I load the movie up on the mbp and just stream from the mbp to the xbox 360 and put the mac pro to sleep (since the mp is in the same room where my 52" sony bravia and 2 receivers and power amp and the xbox 360, all that makes the room warm especially with the mac pro running, so I just put the mp to sleep and use the mbp to stream. =D

Since mine is still in Alaska.. I'm going to say I Will use my new MBP for web design, some light programming, photoshop, video editing, taking lecture notes ( pre-pharm student), movies+music, talk to relative across the states via ichat, attract attention, make Bacon N Egg breakfast. :D

Theres a typical week. Office gets a lot of calls for odd things... like converting a *ton* of Office documents to the older format (docx -> doc) or to or from pdfs. Thank god for Automator!

I actually use mine to run a numerical weather prediction model for my masters research.

In addition to that, I use mail, safari, photoshop, and other basic programs daily.
