Simple poll question in light of so many people asking what screen size to get. The question is are you happy with the size of the MBP you have?
I have a 2009 17" MBP I chose the size because I work in TV post production and at the time it was the only screen that could represent 1080 HD pixel for pixel. It's been a great machine and I really love it, but it really is TOO big. It's the biggest MBP at my office which sometimes feels a little silly. No big deal but I do catch some flack for it occasionally. The worst thing about it that it's too big for flying. On most planes, you have to keep it on your lap and can't open it all the way. You can get work done, but you're looking down at the screen at an awkward angle. Next time around, I'll certainly go for the high-res 15" ... or maybe even a MacBook Air
Right now the 13" and 15" 'I'm happy with it' options are tied, this probably won't much help people who are trying to decide between a 13" and a 15"..
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; sv-se) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5) 15" discrete MBP great size but going to use it as a stationary server once i get the MBA. Not because its bad, but because i've droped it several times and the case and screen bezel have started to fall apart. Amazingly all the internals still work save for the ir-port. Keeping it because it's so damn reliable and competent.
Currently got a 2010 17" MBP but wish I had 15". Miss my 2009 15" MBP I had before it. Only sold the 2009 one because the battery had started giving replacement warnings. Once sold it found a brand new 2010 17" MBP going really cheap on eBay but just recently started regreting not just getting the 15" again as the 17" is just too big.
I have the current 13". I originally wanted to get the 15, but decided against it because of price. Turns out that I love the size of the 13". My only complaint is the screen resolution should have been higher, seeing as the 13" MBA screen is higher resolution than the MBP.. makes no sense.
I was a little like that when I had my 2009 one every time I was in any Apple store I used to look at the 17" and think wow one day. Finally got it earlier than expected but after lugging it around for a year at university it's gotten too much and is time to go back to the more portable 15" again.
For the most part I'm very happy with my 13MBP... however, now that I have the budget I will be moving up to a 15 inch anti-glare, hi-res. I do lots of video editing. My 13MBP has handled everything I've thrown at it, but I simply want a larger screen and more horsepower
I've had a 13" for two years now, and personally I'm ready to go bigger. It seems to me that if you're a person who's debating between the 13" and 15", you're really choosing between great portability and screen real estate. The 13" mid 2009 is very light and does fit anywhere you need it, but if you want that extra screen space, go for the 15". That what I'll be doing
I have a 15" and am very happy with it. I also have an external monitor I can use. Without one, I probably would have bought the 17".
I currently have a 13" 2.3 GHz i5. I think it is the perfect form factor, but having owned 15" MBPs in the past I like the extra screen real estate they provide. But the 13" is just so darn portable, and just big enough - most of the time. The 17" seems to only make sense if you need a somewhat portable desktop replacement (and yes, I've owned one).
15inch macbook pro and im 99% happy with it kinda wish i got anti glare though would hi res anti glare been worth it?
I've had the 17" (early 2011) since the beginning of summer in preparation for going off to college (engineering). I carry it around with me all over the place and I really don't think it's too big to be portable. You just have to find a backpack big enough that it fits (took me a little while). The extra resolution makes it so much better for me than any of the windows laptops i've owned in the past. it's also the same size as my old HP DV6 (16" laptop) but it's thinner. So it's really not that bad at all.
