I did that "open as many apps as you can" experiment one time. I got up to about 95 programs open (including some Classic programs) before I ran out of programs. I then quit them all successfully. I had 256 MB of physical RAM at the time, so when I was all done with the programs, I had about 16 swapfiles  . It ran a bit slowly until I restarted, but that's understandable.

Easy.

Eye candy. Mmmmmmmm...... :)

Seriously, I like not having to mess with extension conflicts, TWAIN driver issues, rebuiding the desktop, and...wait. That's what I hate about OS 9, not what i like about X. Bah, it's the same thing.

I like the dock, and the file system. I don't know how I ever lived without column view now.

Regards,
Gus

Honestly, at first, I couldn't stand OS X. Everything I had was in Classic, and aside from the stability and anti-aliasing, I wasn't too impressed. However, as more and more apps started carbonizing, I used OS X more and more. I've quickly (like over the last 6 months) left OS 9 further behind me. I would imagine once AIM gets the voice chat capabilities working in X, I'll never go back to 9.

The dock and its hide capability is superb. I love seeing friends and families' faces when they see my Mac for the first time (or again), and they ask shockingly "Where are the icons on your desktop!?". I reply "What icons? I need icons?" :p :D I like to keep it nice and tidy (for the most part), and I hate tons of icons all over the desktop covering my pretty wallpaper. ;) Silly PC users, Macs are cool! :)

:D yea im the same way with icons....i like
to have everything out of the way. it sounds
like your having a blast with your computer...
