Anyone know if the new Affinity V2 Universal Licence supports Family Sharing?

It's mostly my girlfriend that needs the Affinity Suite. I tend to use Pixelmator (now Pro) after ditching Photoshop years ago, with Affinity Photo as my backup; but she also has use for Designer and Publisher from time to time. Mostly on hobby basis, though sometimes for work or the odd freelancing gig.

I've been using V1 since 2016 or so and hold licenses for several of their applications for Mac and Windows. o_O The unified license solves that upgrade headache I suppose for about the expected amount of money.

Have to say though that so far for me I don't see any killer features that would make me jump onto a 2.0.0. Just looks like they kept trucking on for the last 9 months or so without releasing anymore public betas like they used to. Loss of separated window mode is also a bummer to me so for the time being I'll probably stick with V1 and keep an eye on developments.

Main feature I've been looking forward to/expecting after their teaser about them working on something big was automation/scripting. Without that for now it just looks like refinements to me.

I'm another of those who purchased licenses for both the Mac and Windows versions of the original release. The new unified license is fantastic.

However, my job relies heavily on Publisher, so I'll spend a month with the V2 trial before deciding if and when to upgrade. (I'm mostly concerned that the UI changes will make the adjustment difficult. Even though it's been three years since I left Adobe for Affinity, I still occasionally find myself confused by the UI.)

The $99 offer I think is only for a limited time, so you may not have a month. I believe it will jump up to $169 for the Universal License.
I jumped on it within the first few minutes it was announced. And so far I really like V2, pretty much the same workflow as V1 but with new and better features. Plus redesigned pieces of the software that makes it more modern...

Good point. Even if I stick with version 1, I know I will eventually need to upgrade anyway. Might as well lock the discount price in now.

Having said that, Affinity frequently discounts its software for holiday sales and whatnot. So I wouldn't be surprised to see similar discounts in the future.

You just have to enter the license on any Device you install it.

I read that, something along the lines of: You could log in with an Affinity account to enter licence; and then you could log out again, but still get updates.

That's not as easy and convenient as Family Sharing via App Store.

Now, the new Universal License should be available via In-App purchase, according to the App Store, but under Familiy Sharing it is a bit vague, with "some" and "may" being the key words here:

The universal license is available as iAP. You can also buy each app individually with iAP.

I bought my license via iAP with AppStore. Then the apps prompted for my Affinity account, and asked if I wanted to link my license. I did, so now when I sign in via web it shows that I have a universal license. I'll check if Family Sharing works on my wife's iPad later today @Mitthrawnuruodo

I love the Affinity Suite of software (although I have to admit I under utilize them) and did not hesitate to grab the upgrade promotion. I, too, am a bit worried about the UI changes since I own the Workbooks (which I cannot even find on their website anymore).

Regardless, it is a great price for amazing software (especially considering the new Universal License)!

I didn't hesitate either, but I completely spaced that my workbooks may be less useful now... Most of the core functions are similar.

Good sale for this suite.

I would have preferred to buy it through the App store for ease of installation and registration on different devices, but I can't blame Affinity for not wanting to hand over 30% of the purchase price to Apple.

Im an adobe subscriber but I grabbed these. I have wanted to check them out for a while..

I bought the Suite Universal License. I am happy that there is a perspective tool to skew images. I have installed the apps on my Mac Studio and my MacBook Pro.

I have v1 of the Affinity suite for Mac plus Designer for iPad.

I would have liked a discounted upgrade price for existing users, even if it was $20 less. It would just be a small gesture of thanks to those who have supported them in the past.

I haven’t downloaded 2.0 yet to try. Frankly, it’ll have to blow me away for me to upgrade. I found the user interface of v1 to be very busy. And it’s missing some basic features I’m use to in Illustrator. Yes, I’m coming from decades of using Adobe, and I know it’s difficult to change habits.

That would be relevant information to me as well. I would love to spare Affinity the App Store costs, but I really want it to work on my wife’s (and daughter’s) iPad.
I realized that I downloaded the Mac versions (as I don't have an iPad) so my purchases don't show as available for her in the AppStore. However, upon downloading Designer 2 on her iPad and launching, I was given the option to sign into my Affinity account and unlock the license.

That said, I switched to her login on my MBP and launched all three apps there. Hitting restore purchase worked on Designer, but not Photo or Publisher. I think this is because I paid for the universal license with iAP in Designer. So it appears that family sharing works on whichever app you buy the license with. I think family sharing may have some limitations on the Apple end in restoring purchase of some universal license; the AppStore can't restore a purchase for Publisher if there's no purchase history on Publisher itself, even if Designer covers the iAP for it.

Bottom line, you can still sign into your affinity account on whatever device you want to activate, and it'll work.

No upgrade path for users of the 1.10 version. For my use pattern, I don’t see the need for spending the $50. Now if they had upgraded the noise reduction to be the best AI in the world, that would be something, i would pay for.

I just upgraded to the suite because I was dissatisfied with how long it took Photo 1 to load on my Mac (M1 Max 32 GB). It's definitely snappier loading. Other than that, no big deal - but well worth the $100 for the suite.

I'm a long-time Affinity user and I agree with those who say the price is low enough I don't feel bad about no upgrade path - though some kind of courtesy to loyalists would've been nice. (I don't think $20 off would have done much for me, but maybe something like a free Styles pack....)
