I refuse to believe that apple is doing this just to sell more new products. It just doesn't seem to be in Apples culture to sell more products to make more money.

I've been with Apple since 1986 and this is exactly what is in Apple's culture.

Using the iPad as an example, the jailbreaking community has proven time and again that Apple artificially software cripples their products. Why could you not mirror the display on the original iPad out to a projector (it was app specific)? This was a feature added in consecutive models, yet it took no time at all to enable this feature on the original iPad once jailbroken.

They also do it with hardware. Why no speakers in the first iPod touch??? So they could add them in the second revision. Why no camera in iPad one? So they could add it in iPad 2, but just a ****** one so they can put a better one in the new iPad. Etc.

Apple has created a culture of dedicated, some might say obsessive fans. It knows how to manipulate and market to these fans to provide just enough with each upgrade to ensure people drop the cash for the latest and greatest.

So it is, so it has always been. :)

It's how Apple rolls.
Next year, the big thing on the iPad, will be a quad-core CPU. Combine it with the current GPU, a further improved battery and the same 1GB of RAM(no doubt), it'll be twice as fast. :D :apple:
