Leather cases for the iPhone 5s? Really? Are they chic and stylish or tacky? Lots of people seem to like it. But both my sister and my girlfriend told me that leather cases are tacky. What do you think?

Much better than the 5c "cases." I don't think they'll be a noticeable leather which would yield a "tacky" look. Overpriced, sure, as are all Apple products. ;) Im probably gonna wait for the reviews, but I definitely want a black one for my 5 right now.

I like the case, but the only colors I'm considering are black and red. I guess that's the dilemma I had with the smart covers too though. Black always wins in the end.

I really think it's impossible for anyone here to really provide any intelligent opinion on the cases since no one has actually held one yet. They look fine in pictures, and the microfiber on the inside is intriguing, but no one here can truly know until we get our hands on a real one.

A darker brown would have been nice.

I understand they are the same material as leather Smart Covers. In which case, you can darken the color by rubbing in leather cream, like the ones used for handbags and shoes. I managed to get a nice dark brown by doing this on the tan Smart Cover.

Cool. Thanks.

Different people have different color choice but the leather cases for iPhone 5S is looking stylish.

Yes only. I mean you're already spending anywhere from $200 for the phone (on-contract) but $40 is too much for a case?

Really? What if Apple priced it at $60? How about $80? Or even $100?

Everyone has their own personal beliefs about what a product is worth.

Me? My ceiling on a phone case is $20.

I don't see how they are tacky unless people are just looking for another lame excuse to bash. My only criticism is the price, but aesthetically they are generally a non-offensive premium leather case that is designed for purpose. personally I would save a bit of cash and buy a cheaper alternative, but as cases go, they are certainly not tacky.

Apple is lucky to have a robust 3rd part accessory industry to help retain iPhone customers. Sometimes I think that's one of the reasons Apple has recycled the same basic form factor for a very long 4 year period. In Internet time it's like a decade of the same old thing.

In general I like the look and feel of leather cases but I've never had a case on any of my phones.

I must say I do not like the look of the leather color cases coupled with the iPhone 5s. They feel like they were designed by to different teams that didn't speak with each other.

I want to see them in person. I like the idea of having a nice leather case for the phone. I hope it doesnt feel too plasticky and flimsy.

Pretty much what I'm thinking. It's a plain leather case, don't know how that can be tacky. Overpriced? Sure, but it's Apple. What else did you expect? Value?

I am more interested to see how well it protects the phone than how it looks. I personally had an Apple Bumper on the 4s. she took a few pretty nasty blows on the concrete (i'll blame alcohol), nonetheless, not one single thing happened to the phone. I have seen people with otterboxes break a screen with one of those cases before. I understand no case will protect the phone 100% but, as long as its light thin and still provides good protection for the phone, i'm in!
