Besides a cloth...

Does anyone use air duster? You know, the compressed air in a can? I'm mainly talking about the areas in the headphone jack and the base of the phone where you connect it to your computer.

I just use a cloth. I'd be afraid of liquid stuff. Be careful with the air dusters. They have liquid in them and have a tendency to squirt liquid if the can gets tipped then sprayed. I would not suggest it. At all. If you are going to use a liquid anything, put it on a cloth first, then wipe, avoiding sensitive areas.

I used a cloth that came with my first iPhone. Also be careful using the air duster as sometimes that can spray liquid C02, which can trip the moisture sensors.

Thats what I was concerned about... tho I've seen the "Geniuses" at the Apple store use it at times. I still don't trust it.

Take what they do with a grain of salt. Remember that most of them are trendy hipsters who have no respect for other people's property. One of them used a "tool" in the back room to get a case off my phone that I tried in their store. It left 3 marks on my old 3G. I now supervise their actions and will snatch my phone away in a heartbeat if they do something stupid.

I use a nice metal brillo pad with some bleach. Is that going to damage my 3gs?

It may. It depends on whether you rub in circular motions or from left to right. Also, there are other posts about the hazards of using bleach in combination with certain manufacturers of brillo bads. You need to use the ones that state they are iPhone friendly on the box. Anyway, we'll need more information to answer your question.

So, SamCraig, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today? :)

I agree, keep all eyes open and refuse that they disappear with your phone (or mac).

You must have a lemon. I'd bring it back to the genius bar

They don't like me there. :( I've already gotten 12 replacements for various problems. And I mean BIG problems. Can you believe that my bezel was one half of a unicorn's tail hair higher on the right side of my iPhone?

12 replacements? Please. You're an amateur. I'm on my 28th 3GS. 26 of those replacements were because the screen brightness on my unit was 1/10 of candle watt off from my friend's and I don't think I should have to suffer for having a phone I couldn't use the way it was meant to. The other two returns involved an underwater shark attack and iphone pavement drag racing contest I had with a friend. Technically I was completely at fault. But you know I got game. After 26 returns, the 27th and 28th are like a walk in the park!

i use spit and the homeless guy on the corners pants

oh wait you mean my iphone?

oh just stick in my pocket and when i pull it out its clean again
