Mainly I use my MacBook for checking Mail (Apple's app plus FirstClass), heavy web browsing, occasionally on iChat (rarely video conferencing), iCal, and iTunes. So my applications that are almost always open are:
    • Mail
    • FirstClass
    • Safari
    • iChat
    • iCal
    • iTunes

But at school we are trying to convince the administration to approve the budget to install a MacPro in the theatre. We do enough presentation work, audio work and recording in their to warrant having one, plus we need a computer that can power at least 2 displays.

Home theater and wasting time on MacRumors.

Oh, and manuscripts, grant proposals, data analysis and all that other boring stuff.
