Because he specifically says he wants to run firefox, photoshop, and itunes all at the same time.

Firefox and iTunes aren't intensive, however, photoshop can be. If he's working on a 10-20MP image, the faster CPU will help tremendously on rendering and such.

I know for me, a faster CPU will still be limited by a slow hard drive or limited ram of 8GB (which really isn't enough these days for running vms)

I don't have a 13" laptop, but when I did, I wanted a higher resolution than 1200 x 800. Honestly, this LED backlit screen on my current mbp santa rosa is outstanding. The colors are brilliant, the lighting is perfect, the viewing angle is perfect and the resolution is good enough for me (1440x900).

As far as the processor is concerned... just make the jump to the ix series already! i5 would be good enough for me.

The hard drive should at least come at a stock 7200 rpm's (as long as any excess vibrations and noise can be dealt with easily) and nothing lower than 250 GB (wishful thinking, I know. But it is a PRO model after all).

I could care less about Blu-Ray at the moment. I have a Blu-Ray player hooked up to my HDTV which is good enough for me.

The graphics NEED TO BE UPDATED. I would love a discrete nVidia card, but I'll give ATI another shot despite my bad experience with them.

MORE USB PORTS! Most laptops of the same price have 3 to 4!! wtf Apple? And please, keep firewire and 2 audio ports (line in and line out).

That's about all I can think of now.

Wow, and to think I bought a 2.8Ghz MBP with 4GB RAM, and a 7200rpm hard drive back in November 2008. =P.

Come on guys, wish a little harder, ;-).

i5/80gb intel SSD/4gb ddr3/bluray (low end)
i7/160gb intel ssd/8gb ddr3/bluray (highest end)

Mac Mini i5/4gbddr3/80gb ssd/blu ray/hdmi/apple remote ftw

Nvidia _something_. No INTEL GPU.

: )

Dream high end 13" would be:

Screen: A small resolution bump would be nice and maybe IPS, provided it isn't too much of a battery drainer.

CPU: 2.4ghz i5 520M

RAM: 4gb (ddr3)

HDD: 320gb 7200rpm

Graphics: Ati 5650 + Intel HD (with Ati equivalent of "Optimus")

too much to ask?? ... YES

17" MBP

resolution like now, 1920 x 1200, but with the best possible color reproduction

Matte Screen

500GB 7200 RPM Hitachi drive

two FW800 ports

longer battery life

i7 CPU

Lol you are too demanding guy . The only thing i am praying for and i would really want in the new MBPs 13" is a decent GPU. :D .
Of course i would like more RAM , but this is easy to fix

But the GPU is something you cannot change in the future.

Taking the opportunity and because i read in these forums that the 13" Macbook cannot have a better GPU due to overheating problems i would like to ask how Alienware(Dell) managed to put all this monster parts in its M11X ? Why Apple can't do this?
