What does a "blue circle" mean where the 3G logo is on iP4?

I've never seen it before but it was a small blue circle where the 3G, Edge logo usually is.

What does it mean?

Cellular data. It displays when the phone has a data connection, but it isn't Edge or 3G.

It means you are connected to a network even slower than Edge or 3G because there is no signal for either of those networks. I think it means you can still get data but it will be extremely slow and through the same network that actual phone calls use. Not sure though.
