So I have had the 3g since the lauch day and now I am having problems with the ac cable. The USB end that goes into the power plug is coming off. Does Apple cover this? If so how do I go about getting it exchanged. I love Apple but it just seems that they make certain things really cheap so that you have to buy new ones. Then when you go in to buy the new one they charge an arm and a leg for it. Well if anyone knows please let me know.

I would think just take it in to your nearest Apple store and go to the genius bar and they'd swap it out for you.

Apple should take care of that without a problem. When I had my iPhone 3G, my power button and vibrate switch were fairly hard to press compared to everyone else and when I brought it to them, they tried it and replaced it for me.
