You can mask your need to seek validation as an opinion poll but we all know you want faceless people to validate your tragic fashion decisions. ;) My opinion, and like *******s they all stink, is you're well out of the age range for these silly things.

And what form of 'non-validation' is "grow up and start behaving like everyone expects you should at your age"?

You're deriding the OP as seeking validity for something non age-conforming in the same breath as saying they should seek validity instead through age-peer pressure conformation.

The insecure validity is actually the one you propose, not the OP's.

That's some serious psycho-babble nonsense you got there :)

I am deriding the OP because has masked his need to seek valiation then proceeded to beat someone over the head for pointing it out. His post doesn't smell of insecure validity, his corresponding answers do. For the record, I never said what you've quoted. I did mention being age-appropriate.

My point, which you've clearly missed, is that if you want to ask for opinions to validate a choice you've already made then just do it. Man the f up and say that you're doing something but you were curious how others portrayed it. Don't mask it with an opinion poll about a new trend then get all uptight when people don't support said trend.

For example, I recently asked to people I've been corresponding with on these forums for a long time about ladies chewing on toothpicks. I asked if it was unladylike because someone in a market said it was (I was already chewing a toothpick in public). What I did was I said I am doing something, I was told it was not ladylike and now I'm curious if the lady was just being a tool or if she was indeed right. I did not come online and say "hey all, what do you think about toothpicks?" Obviously people seek validation frequently, some are just more reserved about it. There's nothing wrong with it, though you seem to think there may be.

Ergo, just pony up the info in the beginning instead of being defensive when someone doesn't support your tragic fashion trend. ;) It's all in good fun my man, you'll be fine. :D

These were the craze this year for my 8 yo's and my 11 yo. They got banned from school, because they were too distracting. They still wear them once in a while, but hopefully the craze is over.

Some of them are so small, I worry about them cutting off their circulation.

It's another fad, just like those dumb pacifier things they wore years ago.

I mean, if the OP really wants to wear something targeting at pre-adolescent-and-younger children, who are we to tell him no? It looks childish, but maybe that's his "look."

Well, true - but he did ask whether we thought it makes him look like he's trying too hard to look young.

Perhaps the OP could get one of those LiveStrong bracelets instead; at least it's for a good cause, and looks more age-appropriate.

Maybe we're approaching the Ironic part of the hipster cycle?
Didn't ravers use dummies in the 90's? I grew out of those when I was a baby but there's no way I'm going to tell someone smacked off their t**s with neon hair that.

There is always an ironic part to the hipster cycle.
And yes, dummies/pacifiers were a Candy Raver staple in the 90s. Some club kids today still sport them on relatively rare occasion.

You will never lose your virginity...

until the come out with silly genitalia bands.

I'm 15, i see them like those other wrist bands that they had a couple years ago, I'd only wear ones that were Mac related or a car or some sort of electronics i guess but i'm not going to run out and get some.

Edit: Holy $*(^ the kids on that website have like a million. They are a bit obsessed. I could see wearing one maybe but like 20 on one arm, cmon

You're 20, in college, and you're wearing silly bands? Good luck with all that. :D

I thought only 10 year olds wore them.
Exactly.

I wear them... then again im 13. I dont buy them, people just give them to me and i wear them because i dont want to be rude, first of all, and you just get used to them being on your wrist.
I'm a 20 year old college student who up until a week ago had no idea these things existed. Once I did I realized that all the younger people seem to be wearing them. Today I went and bought myself a pack of music ones and I now have a guitar, trombone, and trumpet around my wrist. Does anyone else this age wear them or am I gonna look like I'm trying too hard to be young?
I dont know anybody that age trieing to wear them, unless their kids are forcing them to wear them (not 20, older than that).

You're 20 wearing rubber bands shaped like random objects on your arm, sorry, I just can't see that being age-appropriate. Do you see others in college wearing them? I'm well out of school so I can't tell you.

You asked what we thought of them. You didn't ask us to validate your decision to wear bracelets. ;)
There are high schoolers wearing them.
1. You're in college...spending about $0.22 per rubber band isn't smart
2. Toys r us lists recommended age 5-8
3. I'm a pediatrician and by early HS they're no longer cool

But I'm sure you're the king of the frat rocking those bandz!!!!
....
I work with kids, and occasionally they'll give them to you as gifts, so I'll wear them until they snap. They're not incredibly durable. Oh, I'm 25.
A whole lot more durable than the generic ones. Ive had one on for about 4 months, wear it most of the time (dont judge me), and it just broke yesterday, which was sorta my fault (saw a tear in it so i decided to break it).
when i opened this thread i had to google "silly bandz." i had no idea what they were. im 26 and obviously out of the loop.
.....

Theyre made out of silicone and theyre meant to be bracelets. And to everybody sayin "what a stupid idea" who cares? The company whos making them is making a huge profit, the kids are happy, and the adults are happy because the kids are happy. Why is it a big deal?

Why would the kids on that website have that many? Its $5/$4 per a pack of 24.

I'm a day late and a dollar short to this thread, but I wanted to thank everyone here for making it completely awesome! :D

I wear one my girlfriend gave me, which she got from her younger sister. I wouldnt actually pay money for one, but Ill gladly wear one for the irony. (Im 21, shes 20)
