What does This connector do and how can I replace it?

Hello there, I was recently upgrading the ram in a 21.5 inch mid 2017 imac, and while i was replacing the motherboard, the cable of this small connector (as pictured) was severed. So I'm making this post to ask, Is there anyone who definitely knows what this connector does and how to replace it?

It's the internal microphone. Can be replaced - it's glued to the inside of the case.

so how do I replace it then, what parts do I need to buy?

this is the part. Like I said, it’s glued to the case - so all you would have to do is remove the old torn one, align the new one and glue is back into its place, aligning it to the 3 small holes you see on the chin bit.
