iPhone 13 Pro, latest iOS version. Phone was plugged in overnight.

Graph shows charging throughout (usually there is a plateau where it stays at 80%, then finishes a couple of hours before my alarm) but seemingly a stop in charging progress - however battery is fully charged. Any idea why?

Its a deliberate thing to optimize battery health. It learns how you typically use your phone throughout the day, and then it doesnt charge beyond 75-80% if it thinks youre not going to need it soon. My watch does it as well. Apparently charging to 100% all the time is what shortens the battery life

No, that’s optimized battery charging and it looks different (plateau which I mentioned). This is as if the phone turned itself off, which is possible, since I did have to enter my unlock code in the morning (not just FaceID).

Odd thing is that it happened to many other people during the same time period, as this Reddit thread shows. I wonder what it’s about.

Yea, and particularly keeping it at 100% is what is the especially detrimental. Lithium ion batteries can lose over 20% of their capacity per year just sitting on a shelf if stored fully charged.

The optimized charging function is shown by the “pause” symbol on the graph. You can see the difference below as opposed to what I previously posted.

I have had my 14 PM also randomly restart over night. Thought at first it installed an update but checked and that was not it. Never found an explanation and hasn’t reoccurred.

Mine did this last night just after 3am... The phone had rebooted! I know this because I had to enter my passcode and SIM pin once I woke up. I have an iPhone 14 Pro running 16.6.

Weird. Seems to be affecting quite a few people. Wonder if it’s a 16.6 bug or something else.

Just throwing out a thought, do you have automatic system updates enabled? Maybe your phone was updating to the newest iOS. that is also consistent with your second post that your phone rebooted and you had to enter your passcode.

I have this since many iOS versions. But not very often. Last night it happened again.
