Occasionally I get this when sending an iMessage with effects. It’s happened since my iPhone X, Xs, 11 pro and now the 12 pro

Ooops

I got rid of the esim on the iPhone 11 Pro. Tell me there is a setting that carries over. I have the esim number now on another iPhone.

Look under Cellular and see what it tells you. Your screenshot indicates Primary which might mean that if you have a Secoondary line under Cellular, then delete the Secondary line if you aren’t using it. It seems that your phone is recognizing more than one line.

Nothing...

Under the iMessage settings you can pick a default sending address - this can be an email address or a phone number - It might be set to the wrong number in there.
Settings -> Messages -> Send & Receive

Maybe check your contact card (i.e., your own contact in the Contacts app) and see if your previous number is no longer there?

I did set it up and new several times.

I get that prompt every time I start a convo by sending an iMessage effect. It’s a bug. Doesn’t have anything to do with SIMs or contact cards or anything.

That happens any time you try to *BEGIN* a conversation with an iMessage effect.

You can reproduce this by *STARTING* a convo with someone that you don’t have an active message thread with.

If you already have a conversation thread with someone in your Messages app list, it won’t work. But starting a conversation with someone you don’t already have a thread with by using an iMessage effect will reproduce this bug every time.

I’ve reported this to Apple multiple times but have finally given up.

It only happens when I start a new conversation with an effect. Not always. It doesn’t always happen. It’s a random thing. So it has nothing to do with the esim at all?

I don’t have an eSIM and I can reproduce this bug every single time.
