This message has been popping up occasionally on my mbp in the past few days.

What does it mean, why is it appearing all of a sudden, etc.?

Looks like a time machine related error....my best guess is that TM can't find your backup location....check your Time Machine settings.

That's from an advertising service that infected your browser. Reset Safari and clear the cache, check all your extensions and make sure there isn't anything in there that you don't want.

I see, I just noticed the sparse reference...Clamxav would get rid of it if clearing the cache won't.
