What does this screen distortion mean?

I close my MacBookPro and when I reopen it shows this display. Running Mohave 10.14.1
I can actually use web browsers as normal and able to VPN to a Remote Desktop fine as well.
I can fix it by doing a restart.
This has been happening just since May 2019

Update to 10.14.4. I don't know exactly what Mac you have but there have been some fixes for problems like this since 10.14.1 was released.

Another thing to check, is GPU ok? And, what year/model is this?

If even says ok, make sure you are backing up, as might fail suddenly if hw. Had that with my 2008 MBP: wonky, but two days later, would not boot.
