I'm assuming this only affects music played from the music app? What about an eq for overall?
Unfortunately, there's no way to control this globally on an iPhone; each app must manage it's own eq.
I've been considering adding hardware capable of doing eq and low/high pass filters to my iPhone audio chain but will probably move to a dedicated DAP like the FiiO M9 if I decide to go that far on mobile. My iFi xDSD and Shure IEMs don't need really need any eq and I prefer neutral presentation anyway.
Many bluetooth headphones (JayBird, Sennheiser, etc) have an eq control app.

What EQ setting do you use on your iPhone? I love Rock music (I’ve always had that EQ setting on my iPhone) but I turned it off today and it was noticeable “louder” on my AirPods.

Any advice feedback on what settings you use while listening to music?
None at all. Buy some decent earphones :)

You mean karaoke (no vocals/guitars) ‘mode’?
Lol not that aggressive. I increase the lows up a bit (Master & Dynamic MW07 lacks the lows I like) and decrease 1000Hz about 0.5-1.0dB and mildly increase high. I miss Shures signature sound but they don’t make true wireless

To me no EQ is more natural sounding the way it was recorded. Not artificially boosted.

If I alternate between my headphone, car, and speaker collection they all sound different with the same EQ. Perhaps more so than changing eq with the same speakers. What’s true and natural sounding anyway?

I've always had the EQ off, I listen to a variety of music and switch between headphones and AirPods all the time, so can never find a consistently comfortable setting.

The Audioforge Equalizer app for iOS can make a $50 Marshall headphone sound like a $1000 headphone, but not as good as most $4000 headphones. It has enough precision with parametric EQ to correct freq. response errors, peaks, recesses etc., which are 90 percent of the sonic problems. The only thing it won't do is fix problems with the drivers such as buzzing or distortions from being over-driven.

I use my budget Shure SE215 and have no EQ. I prefer neutral or flat sound cause this sound suits the music i listen to the most: Classical and J-Pop.

It's a great thing that your ears produce the correct sound with that IEM. In my case, almost all IEMs sound way too bright, but over-ear headphones sound the same to me more or less as what the reviewers say. Some people who have trouble fitting IEMs go to the CIEMs to fit their ears better, but of course that costs more money.

I listen to high resolution audio through Tidal. I turn off the equalization because it degrades the sound.

Dang, it sounds a lot “flatter” with it off. I mostly listen to alternative music so assumed that made it sound better.

Toggle between Flat and Off and there’s basically no change (when using headphones) but you can definitely hear the difference with Rock selected.

Now I’m torn haha.
[doublepost=1559827678][/doublepost]That’s so funny. I think music sounds flat most of the time so I used the flat EQ setting and mono in the accessibility menu with my Sennheiser HD280s and my wired apple pods. Got the AirPods and those settings no longer work. I can’t find a setting that I find comfortable or that sounds good.

Airpods fit me and my wife very differently. Her ears are small and they sit right next to her ear canals, so she uses no EQ with them. My Airpods sit further away from my ear canals, so they sound bright and bass-shy. So here's the EQ I use with the Audioforge iOS app:

Well Did You know that Late Night option actually works with all apps not just Iphone music app I’ve tested it becouse when you listen for example with google music play app and you try switching eqlizer settings its all same until you click late night - a half second sound disconnect happens so music glitches for half a second and it switches to Late Night - pretty cool - on my iphone 11 pro max - late night option works over all apps that emits sounds
